Sobering and (what is the word: classy?) memorial honoring Hebridean soldiers from both WWI and WWII. The tower is excellent, and the stone circle is appropriate and dignified. Well done Stornoway! A pleasant surprise.

Amazing memorial, lovely walk in nice grounds, views over Stornaway on a clear day a great too. Can been seen from miles away.Shame the tower was closed, would’ve liked to go to the top and see the four different levels inside.

A tower war memorial with a modern stone circle holding plates of the locals who gave their lives in WW1 and 2. A good walk, great views and thought provoking.

Amazing place, quiet and pretty isolated. Great to just sit and reflect on the past. The Monument has a wide and comfortable stone bench on each of three sides, apart from the front, where the door is. Seems like you can't climb it - or it wasn't when I've visited. There is also a cross in the memory of soldiers fallen in the Second World War. Very clean area, and the views are superb!

We visited ìn the evening when the tower is lit up. Having a circle of stones each one dedicated to a different village was moving and brought home the sacrifices made by very small settlements for the greater good. The views across Stornoway are amazing. I was disappointed that the tower itself was locked but understand that this was probably to prevent vandalism.
