Awful experience recently. As a treat for recovering from major surgery for cancer (that left me with a disability that means I have to take medical supplies with me when i go out) my wife booked tickets. It didn’t occur to us that staff would not allow discretion to enable me to take my small rucksack into the theatre. I had to explain the situation to staff in a public area and then, as no flexibility was permitted, I then had to decant (again in public) all my supplies into paper bags and take these into the theatre. Not a pleasant experience at all.

A nice theatre with interesting shows occasionally. Very strict on size of bag you can take into the auditorium, but they have lockers. Only 3 ladies toilets for 666 seats means a long wait before the show and during the interval. £4 for a small tub of ice cream. Pleasant staff, but no-one to be seen when someone was begging in the foyer during the interval.

Arrived at the theatre and as we got to our seats we were informed that my wife’s handbag had to be handed in as it didn’t conform to the Health and Safety policy. This was because of the straps. Reluctantly we conceded but there were larger bags with longer straps allowed. Inconsistency with their policy and staff who are clearly uncertain when confronted. I suggest all handbags be banned!! As far as I am aware this is the only theatre who is adopting this policy!!!

Just saw the Christmas panto Mother Goose, and have not had so much fun on a Saturday morning in a very long time. Great music selection, the silliest jokes, fabulous dancing, and excellent singing. Go go see it!

Went to see The Mirror Cracked yesterday in this lovely theatre. It was a great performance with some very clever staging. The cast were wonderful and put their heart and sole into the whole show. The staff were great too making sure we had an additional cushion for my wife and keeping the theatre clean and tidy.

I always enjoy going to Cambridge Arts Theatre. However I don't agree with the new policy of asking people to deposit their handbags in the cloakroom. I was forced to do this, as my handbag was apparently slightly larger than the allowed proportions. I imagine this is not a popular policy with many theatre goers, particularly women, who don't like to be parted from their handbags and contents!
