Sweet Basil Chinese Takeaway & Restaurant
My husband picked up Chinese last night from Sweet basil.After eating prawn noodles I felt sick straight away. Now in bed with food poisoning. I will pay a visit once I'm back on my feed and probably will report the restaurant for their poor quality and service. I'm so ill, I can't believe those places are even allowed to stay open. Disgusting.

If there is a zero star rating, I would have given this restaurant a zero rating. The food was old and not tasty. I have tasted better chinese than this. Will never make an order from this restaurant again.

Sweet Basil Chinese Takeaway & Restaurant
At 19:50 on 26th June, I ordered £38 worth of food from Sweet Basil Chinese, the delivery was scheduled for 20:55. Approximately 21:20 I contacted the restaurant regarding an update, which I was told the food was on it way. Unfortunately, still nothing. Approximately 21:50, I contacted the restaurant again in relation to my delivery, in which they responded that the food has been delivered. When I explained that the food hasn't been delivered, they treated me like I was lying, the owner of the restaurant refused to speak with me, refused to cook new food or offered a refund, after speaking with the Manager Tommy, they eventually agreed they would send the driver back to my address to see if I'm the person he handed the food over too (the driver even explained the description of the person who he handed the food too, which was the complete opposite to me), which they agreed if I wasn't, they would cook new food for me etc 20 minutes after, the driver arrived and agreed that I wasn't the person and that be confirmed he handed the food over to someone else completely. The driver contacted the restaurant from my property and explained the situation, the boss said, if the driver doesn't pay the £38, I wouldn't be issued with a refund or new food cooked. The driver then quit the job on my doorstep as he agreed the boss is a horrible man and agreed he would pay the £38, I then call Tommy back and ask for an update, which they refused to issue a refund or cook new food, after serval conversation, they finally agreed they would cancel my order and issue a refund, in which, they began explaining that they couldn't because their Just Eat Panel wasn't working. I contacted them two days later in good faith and explained to them, I have found out who the person who took the food in case they wanted to send a driver and try and get their money back, to be told I am banned from the restaurant. Personally, I would stand clear of this restaurant, if there is anything wrong with your order, they will not be helpful and you will waste 3.5 hours of your evening arguing with the owner. If you don't believe me, check their Google reviews, which explains it all.

I have been ordering from this restaurant for many years.Within the last few months, the restaurant has been under new management, and I am led to believe the chef is not qualified to cook Chinese dishes.I have a repeat order. The first time I ordered under new management, the salt and pepper chicken was covered in chilli peices and chilli oil.The restaurant was apologetic and returned to deliver the correct order.2nd time, I requested no chilli, and they got this correct. Chicken balls however were so doughy like fried dumplins or doughnuts.Now, the 3rd time is my reason for this review and why I will never eat at this restaurant again. Before the order I said to my partner, we have been disappointed, however we agreed to give it one last go.I repeated 5 times salt and pepper chicken no chilli and extra veg.The lady who was not Chinese struggled with this Instruction, eventually I requested that she repeats and she got it right but still passed phone onto a male colleague.I again repeated the order.Upon arrival, surprise surprise covered in chilli.The restaurant did accommodate and returned to provide the correct order, to which I am grateful, although I remained frustrated.Pleases see the image of the order with extra veg request, which is laughable. A total of 1 or 2 rings of onion maybe 3. The dish however tasted OK.Chicken balls - non edible dough balls. YUCK.Rice edible, but the taste reminded me of a ready meal texture.£26 gone down the drain.Never again Sweet Basil.Avoid at all costs!!See images for yourself.

Order food was told 40 to 45 mins now 1 hour no food called take sway said driver on his way 10mins. 15 mins later no driver I call again advised trying to get hold of driver the will call me back. No one called over an hour 10 mins since order he said driver should be there . The driver arrived 1 hours 20 mins after order food was cold. When I called shop back he didnt know what to say and said no mam cannot be cold. Just a joke the blind leading the blind.. money wasted.. Driver said I was sent out with your food 20 mins ago and had another delivery before you. Just a joke the take away. Will not order again. Used to be a good take away BUT NO MORE. The elderly man was helpful the team yesterday was rubbish you cannot understand them..BAD SERVICE

Sweet Basil Chinese Takeaway & Restaurant
The food was nasty. I ordered noodle chicken soup. I've never eaten such a bad soup before, but what to expect if you pour soy sauce over the cooked chicken and add water, no vegetables, only soy sauce, noodle water and a few pieces of Beijing cabbage. How can food be so wasted?
