We phoned James in the evening and the next day he came to our boat. He identified the problem went off to weld and modify the broken part, returned within a couple of hours and our boat was then working again. He spent time giving us advice on other issues we also had which was much appreciated. We would definitely recommend JDS boat services.

Shows up when he says he will actually knows what he's doing unlike many proporting to be marine engineers very reasonable rates does a great job and very nice chap would not use anyone else paul roof fix dorset.

James at JDS helped me with a polarity issue on my 24v system and generator. When the regulator part of the stator packed up he designed a system to run the boat off inverters utilising the engine part of the generator to charge batteries instead of supplying ac voltage.... Ingeneous! And this saved a fortune on a new genny.James has also fixed a fuel intake/airlock problem, installed a complete central heating system and helped me with numerous navigation hardware and software queries.James advised me on aspects of engine maintenance and updating both ac and dc electrical systems plus guided me on the operation of my own boat which has made me more confident and ultimately safer whilst under way which i am extremely greatful for.James is a natural problem solver- able to define a root cause of a problem very quickly and offer practical solutions to overcome.

The heads WC waste pump on our borrowed boat was broken and normal chandlers could only offer a complete new toilet - the boat and the heads pump were new in 1983. The Harbour Master’s office in Weymouth suggested JDS Boat services as one of four options for assistance. James returned our call, visited the boat on the Town Quay, agreed he could do a stainless steel welded repair on the broken pump rod, and brought the result back later the same day.
