Stay Central Hotel

Not terrible but not great. We stayed four nights but the cleaners only came to clean our room once. There was also mold on the windows. There is a bar next door which is pretty noisy though with earplugs the noise was fine. Location is very good.

Staff was very nice, safely stored our bags prior to checkin time. Location very convenient. Floor was dirty and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling, but for the price fine for a one night stay

Fair stay. Rooms small but clean. Very noisy. Very good location.Service instead, below average. They charged us twice for our stay but won‘t admit it, worse, they do not respond to e-mail. Never experienced this with a serious business. Be careful!!

Very cool hotel just behind the castle. Great location for walking into town... just remember that Edinburgh has some pretty steep walking one you're away from Princes Street.

Upon arrival we were told we got upgraded to the Dorm, which is their largest accommodations. They said we would get a pool table, darts, etc, and it sleeps nine. Being that there were only two of us, that's a lot of extra space, but an upgrade is always nice! Unfortunately that's where it stopped being nice. The room was a trek to get to, especially with luggage. And while the beds were very comfortable, the room was like a studio apartment with bunk beds lining the wall and a college-like bathroom (two showers, two toilet stalls, three sinks). No pool table as promised but a ping pong table (not a big deal). The showers were covered in spotted black mold on the ceilings, which was absolutely disgusting! And certainly easy to spot for any cleaning crew! Makes me wonder how much they actually clean here.No outlets by the bed, so it's difficult to charge phones overnight while maintaining the morning alarm. Graffiti-like drawings on the underside of the bunkbeds. And worst of all, this place is attached to a VERY popular, noisy bar. That stays open with loud music until 3am--even on a Sunday. Some sound-proofing would go a long way. This is a super hotel for partiers, not for anyone who wants any kind of decent sleep.All in all, the location is great and the beds are comfy. The staff was pleasant. But that's about all this place has going for it. I would not stay here again, and will let our travel agent know the same.

Really good for the price. Comfy bed, big tv, good size room and bathroom. There were a couple of maintenance issues with the room but generally it was great value for one night, especially with it being so central next to the Royal Mile and all of Edinburgh's best bits.

The Good: Clean, cute modern room and hotel. Great location approximately 8 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle & shops/restaurants. Fantastic showers and bathroom with a towel warmer. Friendly staff.The Not-So-Good: Not the place to stay if you want a good night’s rest. Hotel is right next to a club/bar that absolutely THUMPS. Open ‘til 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Still banging on Sunday evenings too. Our room was by the stairwell which meant when all of the drunk & loud club goers went to their room, we heard slamming stair doors between 1:30am and 3:30am. But then we were able to get a good night’s sleep, right? Wrong. Outside of our window was the trash area for the bar and the pizza joint next door. So after the bar closed for the evening, employees cleaning up were tossing trash bags (full of bottles) and throwing empty kegs in the area. SUPER loud from 3:30am til 5am. Finally got back to sleep and had the alarm (fire, I’m guessing?) go off THREE times between 5am and 8am.Now, I read other reviews that warned of loud club music. No worries, I thought. I came prepared with my sleep sound machine. Didn’t touch the noise—even with the volume on high.Again, very cute hotel, nice staff, etc. But getting more than 4-5 hours sleep each night was a challenge.

Rooms and reception area are well decorated although the location of the hotel is on a backstreet.When we stayed over the fire alarm was set off a total of 3 times , obviously worried we made our way to reception to ask if there was a fire, the staff member that was working that night advised us there was a fault in the system and they fixed it with no real fire. There was no bar only a container of water supplied with plastic cups for the rooms and a hot drink machine. We appreciate things like this do happen however no apologies, no partial refund or friendly customer service when this happened. So that put us off the stay although great for a last minute getaway.

This hotel is great. It’s clean, comfortable and the breakfast was very good. The staff is amazing, friendly and helpful. The location is also perfect. It’s in walking distance to the Castle, restaurants and shops.“Stay Central” is the place to stay in Edinburgh Scotland.

Amazing location. Brilliant shares rooms. Everything was very clean and nicely organised. The hostel is located right next to a very student friendly and lovely pub! My friends and I got a large shared room and we had an absolute blast ! Amazing city.
