British Consulate General Düsseldorf

They are just making money by fooling people. Not giving proper information. Getting a lot of fees and not giving apeal rights after rejection.

Exactly what i expected in a uk government agency. No security guard. Police outside said they arent open on weekends. Doorbell dosnt work or was being ignored. So im on the phone in the pouring rain going through the phone lines to get told they cant help. Get put on a call to london who basically was like well good luck with that you're screwed".. 10/10 would spend an hour locked out in the rain again."

Never give them your passport ! They do not say it but it will take about 5 weeks before you could even hope to get it back ! (3 weeks to evaluate your case" and another 2 weeks to send your passport back ! ) Trust me it happened to a friend of mine who just wanted to go there for a week and he's been blocked in Germany for 5 weeks with no chance to get his passport back ! Even in case of emergency they would never give it back to you ! I'm not sure what the brits do with these passport but this is totally unacceptable !"

Needed an emergency travel document because my passport was being renewed in The UK. They were very Friendly on The telephone . But they did say it would be ready in 48 hours. It was BUT i could Not Pick it Up until 2pm The NEXT Working day, so actually from ordering took 3 days plus 3 hours. Good Job i had not booked my flight 1 day earlier as was promised it would Only Take 48 hours. They did not Tell me i could not Pick it Up straight away. I Got an E-Mail to say it is ready and can be picked Up The NEXT Working day between 2-5pm. But they were all very Friendly, on The Phone, on entry in The consulate , security and The Person who issued it. I was dreading going there Reading all These negative comments in here but they all could Not have been more friendly. Thank You For making it so easy.

Needed an emergency travel document. Applied one day, was able to collect the next. Great service and friendly and helpful staff. I wish other bureaucratic institutions were so efficient!

Everyone inside the building was charming and lovely. Just what you expect from the British.The Scottish man at the door the staff all superb.But I took a selfie outside the building and the German police went a bit kung-fu on me .. so warning.. do not take pictures outside of this building!Unfortunately, because my appointment was delayed and my train delayed. I did not make my Eurostar to London. But thank you for the passport!

Although the visa appliation process takes quite long, luckily one has the option of using pay email/phone, which could help as the last straw.

The way we got treated at the Consulate was disgusting! Well we didn't even get to go up because the security lady thought she knew everything! She hardly spoke English and wouldn't let us go up to the Consulate even though the lady buzzed us in and said we could come up! Gave us some sheets of papers and said good luck. Terrible!

Why do we pay 60 euros more (other than 120€ for UK VISA) for just sending the documents to UK? It takes 5 weeks and mostly tourist visa gets rejected saying you are going to settle with a job in UK. SERIOUSLY!!! AFTER I PROVED EVERYTHING WITH STUDENT STATUS, MY EMPLOYMENT, MY STAY AT MY UNCLE!!
