This is normally a well-managed facility I sometimes use to dispose of household waste (broken appliances/furniture etc). Staff on the site are generally helpful. It’s a great service for residents and the Newcastle upon Tyne showed good judgement in keeping it open despite the economic challenges. I just wish they consistently opened it on time. It’s 9:15 am on a Monday as I queue in my car outside and the gate remains closed with no one to be seen being in charge.

Be careful, I was turned away today due to 'odd/even' days, where did this concept even arise? During COVID, I accept it kept the yard clearer, but today the yard was empty apart from one car. I have often observed dumped, (fly tipping) beds/matresses etc. and often wondered why, when the household waste disposal was so near, now I see why, the frustration. There is no need to fly tip, equally is there a need to second guess if I am able to attend the waste disposal facility today or not? I honestly believe the creater of this rule has indirectly increased 'fly tipping', stupid.

To start with I had a poor experience with this site as I turned up and queued to get in a very polite operators came to my car and told my I couldn't get in as my car had an even number registration?? He was very apologetic as to the ridiculous rules As I was 3 cars from the gate I took what he said and left to return the following day.,this is when things got bad as I got the the gate a very unfriendly operators ( not the one from the day before) came and asked for my I.D. which I had no idea was needed he was incredibly rude when I asked how long this was required and why I was not informed of the requirement as the sign was not visible the day before due to the cars in front of me he snapped 2 years and it wasn't his problem eventually I was allowed on to empty my rubbish.

We've only just moved to the area, the staff were very friendly and the site was well organised.

Great local amenity, helpful staff. Take proof of address, and photo ID as facility is for Newcastle upon Tyne residents only. Check seasonal opening hours for last entry times.

Local, always open recycling centre. It gets fairly busy at weekends & there can be a wait just to get in, best time to go is through the week if possible. Canny bunch of lads always happy to help & advise on what goes in which part of the recycling process.

Middle of the day and still queues, plus gates were closed the gate to change a skip, sat there for 30 minutes at a minimum. Bins are poorly labelled so have to ask where everything goes, the lads were helpful at least.

The site worker could not have been more helpful. First time using permits due to wheelchair accessible vehicle (van) so wasn't quite sure how it worked but he was so lovely. Thank you.
