Here’s my honest review of the Fireplace Wigan, Start to finish, in no way biased and a fair representation of my experience! So we knew we wanted to replace an old dodgy gas fire coupled with a tired and stained limestone surround for the log burner we have dreamed of and thought so fondly of from when Younger. We trawled through the internet and found Fireplace Wigan offering a start to finish, everything included, package. We looked at the website which we did find a little bit confusing and cluttered. So we gave up on that, as we much prefer the personal touch anyway and went to the store. I rang ahead the day before and spoke to chap who seemed knowledgeable and double checked re covid appointments etc and we were assured it was okay. We arrived at the store at 10am and shortly after a gent turned up and opened up shop. We spoke to him for a short time with no upselling or pressure and we were happy with the price quoted. A day or two later Tony arrived to survey the house and firmed up our quote. What you get on a quote is what you pay, no strings attached is the promise. This was stuck to throughout. My only criticism at this point is that we weren’t given any firm date for fitting. I appreciate it’s busy and hard to say exactly as a one day job could end up as two etc but for a several thousand pound purchase some sort of date to work with would be nice on payment. We were given a date a few weeks later but didn’t hear anything from the shop. I rang once and it was still the plan. The week arrived and I didn’t hear anything so I phoned again. I wasn’t particularly bothered when it would be but as a shift worker just needed an idea. The staff member I spoke to at this point didn’t really impress me but we move on, it wasn’t a big deal and we were given another date a week later. This date approached and I rang again to check it was going ahead and ask for a rough time when they would arrive, as again I work shifts and was coming off nights that morning so wanted to make sure I caught them. The lady on the phone this time asked a gent in the background what time and the gents reply (whilst I understand he wasn’t talking to me directly but I could hear) was ‘they’ll get there when they get there’. I found this a little lousy again considering this was a very big purchase for us and I just wanted to make sure I was going to be up and about to accommodate them. Anyway, the day came so I just stayed up to make sure. Now I don’t wish for the above to seem too negative or put anyone off. Absolutely everything from this point was utterly fantastic. Tony and the younger lad (sorry forgot the name) were professional, courteous, friendly and very knowledgeable. They worked their socks off the entire time they were here over two days putting in long hard days. They sorted everything, gas safe, fitting, plastering, alarms, testing and a demonstration. We were extremely impressed with everything the pair did! Although I was a little bit unimpressed with the store staff the fitters work was absolutely brilliant which is the main thing. I cannot fault them. Myself and my partner are so happy with what we have it makes our little cottage feel so much more homely and inviting and we couldn’t have asked for two nicer lads to make our little dream come true. Thanks very much. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommended Wigan fireplaces I have already done so and will continue to.

I paid £1,500 for this new fire (inc fitting) couldn't fault the fitter's work, but it was only a few days later when I turned on the downlights that I noticed all around the marble edging, it was chipped, when I phoned the store, they said they'd get the fitter to call, but I soon told them it wasn't his fault, it appeared to be a manufacturer's fault as it looked like all the chipped areas had just been laquered over, my complaint didn't seem to be welcomed with concern, the shop attitude needs a bit of work. I was phoned by the fitter though later on that day, but I again explained to him that it wasn't his doing, but he was left to look into it and he called me back again a couple of days later to tell me as this is how the fire is supposed to look, as the one in the showroom is in the same state, I've yet to call in the store and check this out, as I must have missed that when I first saw and selected it, if that's the case, then I'll get my coat, if it isn't, I'll be adding more to this review later.UPDATE :- The man in charge took the time out to call at my house and check out the fireplace for himself, he again explained that this is how it is, and it is unavoidable with this type of material. I appreciate his efforts to put my mind at ease, and now see things in a different light (excuse the pun) I guess it's more of a feature than a defect.

So impressed with this company the whole experience was so amazing. No hard sell lots of great advice even about buying and storing wood and how to make a great fire. Never felt rushed showroom staff so informative. Communication brilliant updated constantly on delivery and Installation went off with out a hitch fitters so good Professional friendly, no mess and gave loads of really helpful information and tips. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Had a new fireplace and electric stove installed by this company a few weeks ago. The service was excellent from beginning to end. The choice of fireplaces and fires was impressive and the staff in the shop and the fitters were very friendly and helpful. We are very happy with our new fireplace and would recommend this company to anyone.

I do not normally leave reviews but we have not had a good experience from initially going into the shop to the finish of work with this company. We have had lots of family and friends ask about the fire and we advised them all the same, have one fitted we love ours but choose wisely where you buy it from.Apologies if my genuine review has caused any confusion through lack of details. I did express my concerns to you personally on your visits to do work. Among some, the first was regarding the miscommunication regarding the survey then after the gas being turned off to cap the old gas fire not turning it back on and when the boiler was erroring being told it must be a boiler fault, luckily I realised the issue before calling a gas engineer. Also not informed by the shop about supply issues on the fire and beam. Then I misinterpreted" the word included when in the shop a member of staff said a heat deflector if needed is included

Great service from these people they know there stuff. Got a great price on an ex-display and a good price on a new marble fireplace with a gas living flame fire. Fitters turned up on time done a great job really clean. Would definitely recommend this company 10/10 from us really happy. Big thank you to Tony and fitters.

Wonderful and very professional team, who are all very knowledgeable. We love our new wood burner and would not hesitate to recommend The Fireplace Wigan. Tony and Paul worked very hard and dealt with any queries we had without delay.

Fantastic service & great value.. fitted at a time that suited me.Brilliant fitter Paul. Their was slight damage to surround, Paul dealt with this straight away & new trim was here in two day.These things happen but it’s how a company deals with it that matter…First class service thank you
