This just made one star as it honestly has the atmosphere of a prison. Most of the teachers have little experience working with some of the children and their mental health. The majority of the lessons are cover lessons so the teachers are barely there to support. The cleanliness of the school is appalling, it’s as if sheets of gum were placed under the desks and gives off an overall dirty feeling. The punishments are given to students for the most outrageous reasons, however, bullying is rarely one of them. Didn’t underline work? Detention. Not filling all the lines in a question? Detention. If you want your child to be happy while their childhood lasts, this definitely isn’t the place to make memories.

Went there a few years ago and seeing these reviews, it seems it hasn’t changed.Teachers don’t care, no sanctions against bullying, kids making you feel not welcome, racism borderline, canteen food is disgusting, pupils can eat pizzas in the morning and so on…If i could put 0 stars i would, but i guess 1 star for the school participation of making you feel unworthy

I joined this school back in 2016, I didn't even make it to the end of the term (from the looks of all the other reviews, it hasn't changed). The teachers were clearly under-qualified, and the amount of cover lessons set in place were pathetic. They completely disregard bullying issues and simply brush it under the rug whenever there is bullying reported. There was blatant refusal to make minor adjustments for special needs children. The desks were absolutely disgusting, nothing but thick layers of gum stuck under the desks. In complete honesty, the food was better than the educational and the pastoral system. If you genuinely wish for your children to flourish academically and emotionally, I heavily recommend sending them anywhere else but this school.

I was very worried when my daughter sent to this school and when first year she told me about punishments she receiving for minor mistakes. I felt like teachers bulling my girl and braking her loving personality. This Christmas my daughter told me that she really like lessons of following teachers Miss Baldwin, Mr Nobel and Miss Harris and that she really looking forward to their classes. I am grateful to these tutors for making my daughters days at school interesting and not putting her off studying like the rest of the teachers as far as I know.

Our son is now in year 8 at Avonbourne Academy. He is very happy there and has made new friends and huge academic progress since he has been there. The Di facility is amazing and my son is now working to the correct academic level in English having spent the whole of Juniors working below^. He is happy and feels safe and supported at school and I would highly recommend it. (He just asked me what I was rating 5 / 5

Great school, huge turnaround thanks to the hard work of the leadership team and brilliant effort by pupils and teachers alike. On a strong upward curve and very pleased my son goes there (Yr 8).

As someone who's been here for years this place is turning upside down. Since the start of my first year in this school I've been suffering from trauma and anxiety being here. I've been trying my best to be on their good side of teachers. but they end up shouting. I couldn't even have the chance to answer because I end up getting cut off by them and eventually tells me you could of told me earlier" even though I couldn't talk to them in the end. I'm trying to follow the rules yet it feels like they don't be friendly towards the students even if they are trying to behave as well

My daughter is now in year 8 and very happy. There was a learning curve from primary to secondary however she is thriving at Avonbourne. My daughter joins in with the after school clubs and homework club. Any queries that I have had with the school have been answered quickly and sufficiently. The most important thing is that my daughter wants to go to school, every morning, and although she is tired at the end of the day, is filled with ideas and thoughts from the days learning.

I went to this school as an exchange student and I can undoubtedly say these were the worst months of my life. People are treated like animals and bullied in worst ways possible. One can’t walk trough the corridors without fearing something. Please, take this seriously as I am speaking from my own experience. Would have never thought a school with such conditions is legal to exist. Academics are unbelievably poor. If you want a proper education for your children don’t send them there. And on top: the food is disgusting, you get pizza everyday for breakfast and it’s the most unsustainable place I’ve ever seen. People use plastic cups daily and throw them away after one use.I recommend every student to not consider attending this school.

This place is a business, not a school. A school honestly cares about the wellbeing of it's students and actually wants to encourage kids to reach their academic potential. This place has stamped out everything that allows a child to feel comfortable, silly things like earrings and hair colour that make no difference to a child's learning potential are policed more than bullying and other struggles that actually matter. If a child struggles in class, they are punished rather than helped.United Learning is wrong in how they do things and should not be allowed to be involved in the education of young people until they begin to care about it.Do my send your child here if you want them to enjoy their time at school. This is an honest review, and I hope it's helpful.
