This story begins with every pet owners worst nightmare.Hank is a Dogue de Bordeaux, he's 8 years of age and adored by myself, my wife and our 2 children.Hank woke as normal on last Friday, he seemed not his usual self , as such he stayed in his bed for the day. However by late afternoon he collapsed whilst attempting to go outside. We proceeded to rush him to the Thorsby surgery, during which time his abdomen had bloated significantly.Upon arrival, he was examined by Tiago a veterinary surgeon and within a matter of minutes it was very clear Hank was in a critical condition, further team members came to assist in the assessment and Hank was taken for Xray.Within a very short period it was determined that Hank had developed GDV (Bloat) and was taken into theatre for emergency surgery. At this point the entire surgical team and nursing staff sprang into action, as it was clear this was a very serious issue.Given the time of day, some staff where due to end their shift, however chose instead to stay in their own time, 'scrub in' and assist in theatre with trying to save Hank's life.Whilst in surgery, we were provided with constant updates from staff, senior surgical staff members including Richard (Clinical director), who arrived at the surgery after learning of the ongoing emergency.Hank made it through surgery, however had his spleen removed, a significant loss of blood, his stomach repositioned after it had rotated.Adam, the lead surgeon who operated on Hank, later came and discussed the action plan moving forward, including the critical post-surgery timeframe.Hank remained in a critical condition with nursing staff & Tiago caring for him throughout the night and over the weekend, with 24 hour personal care and constant updates to ourselves which included allowing his family to visit several times a day.Hank made slow but steady progress, however not without several scares, which were fluctuating his chance of survival.I'm happy to say that Hank made it through the weekend and by Wednesday evening was stable enough to come home, after receiving acupuncture on his legs to provide stimulation, given the time he had not moved, however, not before stealing several staff members hearts I hasten to add.Although Hank still has a way to go to recover and is still receiving care as an outpatient, with the surgery staff calling daily to check on Hank and offer support.Myself, my wife and children owe an unrepayable debt of gratitude to Richard and his entire staff at the Eastfield thorsby surgery.Special thanks to Adam as lead surgeon and to those colleagues who 'scrubbed in' to save Hanks life.Tiago and the nursing staff over the weekend, you guys are amazing.Thank you to all the remaining veteninary staff, nursing staff, reception staff (to many to mention) for saving Hanks life. You are the true meaning of a team.Well done, you are amazing and thank you.God bless.

I have used many vets over the years but this is the first vet I’ve used that I will from now on recommend to anybody! The practice as a whole is amazing. The staff are all absolutely lovely and I honestly can’t thank them enough for how they was with my very nervous dog! They operated on admission and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. My dog has previously had many vet visits and each time on bringing her home she would be in a state of shock for days… My dog couldn’t have come home happier even just after her operation and the difference in her this time is unbelievable.Anyone looking for a brilliant vets, I strongly recommend using this one. Thank you so so much!

We always get an appointment with no problem. The staff are friendly, helpful and engage with our dogs, they are always greeted by name and with a fuss.Everything is always done to provide our aims for our dogs care and comfort. We have had dogs across the age spectrum from new puppy to end of life and every aspect of care has been outstanding.I always feel that I can pick up the phone anytime I need help or advice not just to make an appointment.Great staff, great care

I lost my German Shepherd to Sepsis this summer. We visited him in intensive care and the level of care and compassion shown by the staff to our beloved family member was exemplary, and quite overwhelming. Your pet is in safe and loving hands here. Even though we all decided enough was enough I knew they had always had his best interests at heart. Wonderful team.

We recently moved to this area and sadly had to leave our super previous vets. So our standards were quite high and Eastfield was superb and met our needs perfectly. I would highly recommend this practice to everyone. A lovely, warm and welcoming practice with very kind, helpful and polite staff. Such a lovely practice.

Eastfield vets are a fabulous practice. All of the staff are lovely and treat my old rescue cat with such care and kindness. They have really thought about making the experience for your cat the least stressful too by having a separate area away from the dogs.I would describe my previous vets as functional whereas Eastfield vets show that they really love animals.
