Gateway Hotel

Spacious, cean room. Bed OK, and I slept well, although the mattress was clearly well worn with a dip in the middle - but pillows were good and bed linen fresh and comfortable. The shower was excellent, quite powerful. Quiet location, although the vent in the bathroom rattled occasionally when windy outside. Efficient check-in service. Would stay again.

Nice spot for a short stay,room nicely presented. Freshly cooked breakfast. Hallways need to be painted.

A few cobwebs and dusty blinds.BUT ....Lovely staff and atmosphere. Breakfast selection of fruits, cereal, pastries, egg or no pork full English ( was delicious)

Our room was just the right size for us. Nice double bed, had a comfortable sleep, made fresh everyday. Ensuite shower and toilet. Really good power shower. Toilet paper was thin and cheap. My stomach was not good (IBS) and we flew through it. There were also no bags in the bin to dispose of intimate toiletries.Staff were friendly enough despite the language barrier. They always had a smile. They allowed us to store our sandwich things in the fridge for use over the weekend. We also used plates ect for our take away meals in the evening.Breakfast was nice. We had a turkey rasher, egg, beans, sausage, hash brown, mushrooms, grilled tomato and toast, also a cup of tea or coffee.There is onsite free parking.The signage for the hotel could be better. I drove past it on our first day there.

So, for context booked this was booked the night before, which is why I probably went for it on a busy bank holiday weekend.Firstly, I think if they called it a 'guest house ' rather than a hotel it would lower expectations.The entrance was shabby, tired, and in disrepair. Advertised as 'with parking however it was over subscribed on our arrival.We prearranged a 9pm arrival time (with 2 children) and were met with a sign on the door that stated "back in 10 mins ' so we waited 10 mins no one arrived

Lovely clean basic rooms, staff not available most of the time but not needed. Great for a short stay.

Breakfast finish very quick 8 o’clock not very good quality no toilet clean no toilet paper recommend people to see another please review a check already there for families

I had sleep over in hotel getway in Newport I had no water for shower in the morning I call Staff and I was told to out the back and wash I call hotel and they hag up on me so no more Jim

On the night of Saturday, 11th March 2023 I stopped in this hotel. The service was the average door, and the staff back 10 minutes on 2 occasions when I went to this hotel.The staff when they were very pleasant and helpfulThere was a decent breakkie, and the rooms and showers were goodI would use this hotel againSaturday night on the 23rd of September, 2023, this hotel we used again, we used room 4 in another building next to the main hotelThe room was clean and well laid out, plenty of towels, and a kettle with coffee and teaThe shower was ok. We did not have breakfast on this stopThis hotel, if wanting a couple of nights to stop in Newport, is Ideal.

The bed I could feel every spring coil, all lumps & bumps. Not a good night's sleep at all.The bathroom was great. Staff were lovely, breakfast was very nice.Would I shay again yes if they updated the beds.
