Lumi Power Yoga
What a fantastic studio. Rarely in London you have such a beautiful spacious place hidden on a random busy street, true gem in the area. It's a real power yoga so don't expect anything less and I can see how much they take you to strength and endurance. I loved taking the 21 days trial as you get to see all teachers and the schedule. Katie and Aggie are just amazing. Unfortunately for me the traffic and getting there is little too far to do it daily. Really love the place and for sure will continue to visit whenever possible. Well done to keep this work going

The best yoga studio I've ever tried. While the hot power yoga class is the strength of this studio, there are also other classes to try like Slow Flow, Yin Yoga, Strong and Slow and the recent addition of Sculpt that can be done in a temperature room. So, there is a great variety available. The environment is very friendly and teachers are highly skilled and trying to facilitate an environment for personal growth as well. I really like most of the teachers also come to practice when they are not teaching and this shows their commitment to be part of the community. It might not be the cheapest available option for practising yoga regularly, however it is worth the price and a good investment considering the community and the environment.

Lumi Studio Yoga rocks!!!I found the greatest spot in London to be myself, to feel free and to experience the greatest yoga practise ever! In this place you can find an amazing, super friendly and experience teachers who are always willing to help you and make your practice very special. I decided to do a yoga teacher training course in this studio and that was the best decision I made in years. The owners are truly dedicated, passionate and so professional that is absolutely outstanding! Whenever I enter this place I feel like at home. Such a wonderful service! Elina and Ari are honestly the heart of this place and trust me they will make you feel so special that you never forget and you will also sweat a lot! I l absolutely love it! Thank you!

Lumi has been the cornerstone of my yoga development for a few years now. I have had nothing but positive experiences there. The teachers are amazing, the classes always fulfilling. Power yoga is the mainstay of what is offered, but also yin and slow flow as well as sculpt. I can't recommend it highly enough.

This review is late but this issue was in the back of my mind for long, I have let it go but today I thought of it and wanted to apprise you folks on certain precepts of yoga. I attended flow and power yoga sessions there, many of them during the evening after my office hours. Yoga is highly individual pursuit and there isn't any competition and it helps you to go inside, slow yourself down and stretch your body and mind, bring it to a rest while maintaining stillness of an aasana or a pose. Sadly, in the western countries, they take it as a physical aspect and entirely ignore the mental aspect and this was the case at Lumi too but I didn't have much expectations from it as I have had similar experiences in different cities of the world. At least here they don't play hip hop music to yoga(yes, that also happens in certain studios). There was a teacher(a new one) who would taken sessions in the morning and she was quite nice, gentle person, she was still learning but she focused on maintaining the correctness of the posture. I attended only a few of her sessions as I was free mostly after office hours. First of all they would immediately jump into the session, there is no small warm up, which is also called yogic sukshma vyayam, there was no sun salutation i.e. Surya Namaskaram, there were no aasanas such as Markat, Pawan mukta, nauka, sarvanga, bandhakona, manduka etc. There is a reason that one has to go through all these aasanas before you move into the flow as they stretch your body and let the pranic energy flow throughout. Now, coming back to the reason I stopped going here, there was this tall Finnish facilitator (his name started with A, maybe Ari), he would conduct the class, which was okayish, nothing extraordinary about it. He would ask people to maintain a pose and then move around in a room to correct the postures, now, most of the class was comprised of white people, maybe 5% were non-whites including me. He would use his hands to correct the posture of other people but with me he would use his feet, I didn't mind the first time but when it happened twice, I observed it and saw that it is a pattern. Had this guy Ari or whatever the other Swedish and Finnish women who have formed this studio studied yoga, not only the physical but mental aspect, they would have known what ethos and precepts to run not only their studio but also could have elevated themselves from the idea of racism that still flows in those predominantly white parts of the world. How is it that he is using his hands to touch everyone else to correct their posture except me? The funny thing is that they might have come to India looking for Yoga(I have my doubts over this, many teachers just take their TTC in western countries without going to the source and thus present an adulterated and diluted form), would have gotten their TTC in 3 months or so and left without understanding the culture. Unless you shed such thoughts from your mind, any amount of yoga sessions won't help you.Yoga is meant to achieve mindfulness and is an introspective process apart from being a physical one.Just because you are holding the sessions in your studio doesn't mean you are enlightened now and can do whatever you wish to.

Lumi feels like home!As soon as you step inside, the atmosphere and balance of calm, zen and power embraces you. All the yoga teachers are friendly, warm and welcoming, and clearly very experienced at what they do. Regardless of your level, they make you feel like you’ve achieved. I look forward to the classes I have and I cherish the hour I have on my mat while I’m there!

There is a wonderful feeling of calm and friendliness as soon as you arrive at the lovely Lumi yoga studio in Hammersmith. A family of people from all walks of life and many different countries, join together in a variety of classes which will offer you whatever you are looking for in your practice; be it challenge, relaxation, stretch or meditation. After 8 years of practice, I haven't found anywhere I would rather practice my downward facing dog! Yoga and Lumi have changed my life.
