The Georgian House
A wonderful venue to spend a couple of hours. Start with the informative and introductory quarter-hour film about the residents of #7 Charlotte Square. Then enjoy a self-guided tour throughout the townhouse where the docents can answer questions and provide visitors with illuminating and entertaining history, pointing out features of each room.

It's a great museum. Lots of staff to answer questions. I found it very interesting. If you have Hop on Hop Off tickets, you can save money on admission. It's not expensive to get in.

A must for those interested in history. Beautiful house, fascinating information shared by the volunteers who were all attentive and very welcoming. I highly recommend. Last admission is at 4pm so be careful if you plan your visit in the afternoon.

I was expecting a little bit more for that price. I think it's s beautiful house but they shouldn't overcharge.Staff is very nice and they take the time to describe each room and its furniture. My favorite area was the kitchen which reminded me to the Downton Abbey one.

The Georgian House
Really interesting house, which is reachable by foot from the city center.Over three floors they recreated a house from the 1700 and showcase how the people have been living back then. The guides in every room were super friendly and told us everything we wanted to know.

We had a one hour tour and then about 45 minutes more exploring the house after that finished. We'll worth a visit but could probably learn as much from each room guide as by taking the guided tour.

The Georgian House
Very informative and helpful docents. Film at beginning of visit sets the stage and provides a picture of the Georgian period life in the New Town. Interesting furnishings and artifacts. Nice green/commons across the street. Highly recommended house tour. Nice small shop in basement with good prices for Scottish goods and books.

I spent a lovely Saturday morning at the Georgian House. The lady working in the entrance (1st July) was super welcoming and friendly, and very enthusiastic about the house and starting my tour. The film on the 2nd floor starts the tour off nicely with some historical context. Then the small gallery has some very interesting portraits ftom the period, accompanied by actors' recordings as the subjects. There are some fantastic things to see here, not limited to the original barrel organ, tea caddies, kitchen hearth and medicine chest (with genuine items still inside). You get a real sense of the Georgian home and the family who lived there. This is an interesting place for anyone to visit, but particularly so if you're a history enthusiast or very into the Georgian period. The guides posted around the house are fantastically knowledgeable, providing tons of info if you are interested, and even delving into their reference materials to find a particular fact or date you're interested in. I was very impressed by everyone I spoke to. I think they were also very adaptable, with fun or surprising facts for the casual visitor, and more in-depth observations for those who wanted to know more about the history. It would be wonderful if the funds could be raised to prepare and open up the attic rooms at some point in the future, I'd love to come back and see those.I did the self-guided tour, but with so many helpful guides around the house, I don't know much I would have missed from the guided tour!
