Ambleside Post Office

Used the post office before as live between Windermere & Ambleside. Today I was so disappointed in the attitude of the guy in the shop covering while the post office counter closed for lunch. Abrupt, unpleasant and unhelpful. Told me to return in half an hour when P. O counter open as my Amazon return required a phone. When I did return it didn’t it was scanned as normal. He wasn’t prepared to listen and wasted 30 mins of my time hanging around for post office staff to return. Not impressed at all! There’s ways and means of speaking to people and this guy was lacking in manners.The gentleman’s reply below hi lights his rudeness and inability to read a review properly. Of course I understand the staff need their breaks and that was not my issue. The issue was his attitude hi lighted below in the juvenile capital letters. I was also told he couldn’t accept the parcel as a phone needed to scan. If he had looked at the parcel he’d have realised that wasn’t the case. It was accepted by the post office staff as a normal return and no need for phone. That is why I say my time was wasted the guy didn’t look and wasn’t trained to know about Amazon returns! Many of the usual staff in that shop have left I do wonder why?!

Refitted out and the new couple who have taken over are very friendly and efficient. Kept things going through the worst of Covid 19. Thank You.

slowest service ever! It took me half an hour to put money on my card that took 1 minute. The staff are too laid back and make no effort to speed up if there’s a queue, instead they have casual chats with locals they are serving and do everything as if there’s all the time in the world. Half the time I end up just walking out because I’ve been queuing for too long and am going to be late for work. Staff need better training.

Poor customer service. Avoid, if possible. It's very sad because other post offices in the UK very friendly, helpful.

This is the most outrageously slow post office on the planet. I use this post office for more than 10 years to send money through money gram and every time they have a problem that is wasting 1 hour of your life . I know it changed hands but not is even worse I am not gonna use this post office ever as long I will be in town. Prefer to go to Windermere or Kendal .

Great post office, lovely gifts for the grandchildren! So quaint.

Terrible service and very disorganised.The Post Office is at the back of the shop and another till on the left hand side. I walked out today after queuing for stamps and instead walked around to Tesco Express to purchase them from there. The layout in this Post Office is confusing and add to that the very unfriendly staff - not an enjoyable experience.

A LAKE District post office is in the running for a coveted award. The Ambleside agency has been shortlisted by the Post Office Ltd as one of the best in the country. Postmaster Robin Love and his wife Karen and their staff have run the busy Post Office on the corner of North Road for 17 years.

Lovely little shop, very wide range of gifts for all price points- from art, to clothes, bags, post cards, books, stationary, knickknacks etc.Very helpful man at the till giving information, directions & recommendations, they clearly love the area.
