Good place to visit the elderly people. Volunteer work.

Mum passed away in this care home 2014 as a result of sepsis. Was admitted to this nursing home as a result of a serious stroke November 2013. After a period of time was transferred to Jasmine House.The room was little more than a cupboard, as she was not a private paying resident and was council funded. Private paying residents get a whole room to themselves.Senior staff members were ok, actual care staff I can`t really comment on as I was in the process of moving north, but what I did see of them wouldn`t say I they were overly caring, far too young and little in way of life experience or how it feels to have your parent having to be in a nursing home.Although council funded, payment was still required for the time she was alive and living in the home , and in the years since her passing Reading council were paid close to 100k from the estate. So , being council funded does not mean free"

My father was admitted to this Care home in Nov 2021, and lucky under the new management/ownership (May 2021) since the care to my father was first class. My Dad, good bless him, despite not having dementia, was a very demanding/precise person wanting things only his way. For this reason he moved from care home to care home as they gave up on him. However, the management Carmelia and Maribel embraced the challenge, wants and needs off my Dad. They were heavily involved, engaged and lead their team by example a totally different approach to the other care homes he stayed in. They continued to work with him, so much so for the first time he came to except this care home as his his final home, and just before he passed (due to a complication in hospital), he recounted his best week and his perfect day.We as a family are so grateful to the staff and management to this care home since despite his continued demands, sometimes bad attitude to people they always treated him with dignity, respect and always tried to work with him to ensure he was safe, secure, comfortable, happy and having fun at times something non of the others could achieve. Giving peace of mind to also the family.Great personable people.

We would like to thank all the staff at Florence House for looking after our Mother before she passed away on the 2nd of July our Mother Gwen appreciated the kindness and care she received and called them her little angels.
