Beautiful fish supper. Lovely clean & comfortable dining room. Had my elderly mum with me, and the staff really couldn’t do enough for us. I was a little confused about the ordering/paying system but the staff walked me through it so it was plain sailing. I would call again if I were in the area for sure.

Very disappointed with this award winning chippy. First off, they don't put salt & vinegar on your food but instead offer single serve sachets which is terrible for the environment. The staff seem very stressed and as such are abrupt with customers. The chips were dry and the fish was greasy. Very little taste. Honestly I don't know why they're so highly thought of. I went because I was visiting the area and they were highly recommended but I'm so bitterly disappointed. Over priced for what they were.

Just stopped on the off chance, ate in the cafe, and had fish supper along with peas n gravy. I'd recommend it as it was excellent. The fish was cooked to perfection whilst the batter was superb!

Eat in or takeaway fish and chips. High standard of cooking. Very efficient ordering. Extremely environmentally aware. Recyclable packaging and delivery by electric vehicle. Highly recommended.

Just popped in for a breakfast before we headed back home. The breakfasts were brilliant hot, well presented and very tasty. The hot drinks were HOT not like some places where they are warm. The decor was tastefully done and very clean. Very happy to recommend and will definitely be back.

First time buying there. Fish was well cooked batter was dry. Chips were OK. First time ever that I was not asked for salt and vinegar but received it in packets. Chips cheese and curry sauce all came in separate containers. Not a pleasant experience. However, it was full of locals and the ordering system was efficient.

It's OK , but for the price I don't think it's got the feel or value of a traditional chippy.Food was of good quality , unfortunately the sides of gravy was thick and lumpy with a funny after taste as we had a take away couldn't really raise it.I find it odd that even after Covid no salt and vinegar added....offered sachets??? never had this before and really takes away from true chip shop feeling and experience.I think the menu tells this is more a cafe aimed at visitors etc....never been to a chippy with Lemon and Ginger Tea on the menuIf you want a traditional chip show , I would recommend the Solway, there is nothing wrong with the Cafe Royal but for a take away chippy it lacks choice and is slightly over priced.

It's a chippy. While everything was fine, nothing was impressive. The fish and chips were OK, as were the soup and Panini, but I've had much better in other places. The portion size is good. If you're thinking about eating here, go for it, you won't leave disappointed, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
