The Storehouse
Fantastic place run by truly wonderful people. A godsend for those who are struggling in any way. It's more than just a food bank, there are meals available and all sorts of advice on a range of issues.

Southend Storehouse is part of Southend Vineyard. It has two roles in the one building... In one side of the building we have a community cafe where volunteers serve our guest with freshly prepared buffet. In the other side of the building, we host a food bank where those who are street homeless or on low incomes can received everyday items. It is supported by Southend Sainsbury's, Gregg's, Marks and Spencer, Morrison's in Thundersley, Makro in Rayleigh and Occado, Welwyn Garden City. Despite this support, we run out of all we have.EVERYTHING that comes into Southend Vineyard Storehouse goes straight back out to the community. We could really do with your help with donations...WHAT TO INCLUDE: Male/Female toiletries (Shampoo, shower gel, deodorant); washing-up liquid; washing powder; kitchen cleaner; tin foil; cling film; rice; pasta sauces; tinned meats like bolognaise mince, chicken in white wine sauces etc; Fray Bentos pies; pot noodle; instant noodles; porridge; breakfast cereals; breakfast bars; pasta sauces, coffee, tea, sugar, tomatoes, meaty soups, vegetable soups, rice pudding, tinned fruit, custard, biscuits, crisps, soft drinks, tinned bolognaise, baked beans, meatballs, hot dogs - any combination of ingredients that can make up a meal for those with limited cooking facilities.COLEMAN STREET COMMUNITY CENTRE - Coleman Street.

The Storehouse
A friend in desperate times had come down today for a food parcel to help her through the week with her 3 children whilst living in a hostel. She left with nothing she could put together for a single meal. A tin of soup. Two tins of tomatoes a bunch of bananas. Hardly acceptable compared to other parts of the country who provide food bank. waste of time.

This is a great place for a meal and also food parcels. They offer 3 food parcels a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays although Wednesday is family day.You also get a meal so it's not just the food parcels and you can also get a food voucher although they won't actually offer it but if you do ask for it they always give it to you.All in all its a great place mainly run by volunteers and they treat everyone in a friendly respectful manner.

When I was struggling I did utilise the Storehouse as your allowed to choose 5 food items from the food store once you have registered there. You can also access the kitchen/café where you can enjoy a hot meal and pick a few cakes along with enjoying as much tea and coffee as you like.
