St Polycarp's C Of E Church

What a delightful Christian gathering, complete with a warm welcome from young, old, official and random encounters. The music matched an informal style of leadership that nonetheless made clear the powerful presence of God in the gathered assembly. The sermon fit well the themes of Pentecost, the coming of the Spirit in the birth of the Church, and the adult baptism, complete with emersion! Celebration of the Eucharist was joined with a festive coffee, tea, and biscuits post dismissal gathering. These folks enjoy one another's company and engaged this stranger well.

Great place, awesome service by Carl for my cousins wedding. Plenty of off the road parking. Toilet facilities available upon entry. Pleasant surroundings.

Great welcome, well chosen worship and a clear vision for the coming year.

This was the first time we attended a service at a C of E church. We happened to be spending the weekend closeby. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. Such a delightful congregation. So much participation. So much enthusiasm from all around.

A warm family oriented church with a strong belief in Jesus' and his teachings and with a welcome for all visitors. The services are a mixture of modern worship songs and the best traditional hymns and modern liturgy. The theology is evangelical, seasoned with a lot of love and acceptance. The church is not loudly charismatic, but many members are happy to use the spiritual gifts when the opportunity arises. The church is currently led by Rev. Gina Kalsi, a vicar who can preach on a level that is accessible to all but also really knows her stuff and can bring a keen perspective to many topics. Her husband (Kinder) is a Church Army officer and leads a close knit and valuable men's ministry. On the first Sunday of the month the church has an informal 'Breakfast and Praise' service where the main service is preceded by a warm breakfast and the congregation are encouraged to sit and have a chat.
