Practical Car & Van Rental - Northampton

Rented a fit for purpose and economical van for 24 hours at a reasonable rate. Service was friendly and competent.

I collected a minibus back in July 2023 on behalf of the company that rented it for me to complete few jobs. Unfortunately, one customer folded down one of the back seats and we could not put it back in position. As you could expect this was treated as damage even though I did not touch it, having no proof this was actually damaged prior to the rental, company was charged nearly a £1000 for a damage. Secondly, on asking verbally if I will need to pay charge for driving in London I was told no and to my surprise I have received a penalty to pay as was actually supposed to pay. My mistake, I could have checked but as this was relatively new car I was assured by response given to me.

Great van (Luton tail lift), availability and price so would recommend.Niggles: you can't leave your car in the hotel car park overnight (use the riverside public car park instead). The quote was excluding VAT but that was totally unclear. It took 12 calendar days to return my deposit (which was blamed on my bank, but was obviously a known issue)

This was my first experience hiring a van, and it was easy and convenient. We moved from Northampton to Somerset so it was a couple of days of back and forth moving furniture. I booked online, popped into the office which is situated in the Holiday Inn, this did confuse me initially but I soon found it, and there was a quick check and scan of my licence and passport and the relevant checks were completed quickly and efficiently. I was given the key the day before and picked the van up early morning myself out of hours, again this was easy just went into the car park and drove off on my way.Overall good service and would definitely use again! The LWB van was a massive help to us and a comfortable drive!

I hired a LWB Luton van with tail lift for a house move. Process was easy and efficient. Stipulations of rental were clear and concise and I was on the road in no time. This is the second time I’ve hired a van from Practical at the Holiday Inn and it’s been a perfect experience both times. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, the price was good, the van was good and the guy who runs the place is a nice guy, sorry I forget your name. Will be returning in the future!

This is a MUST.... the customer service was very good. Examples the terms and conditions clearly. Very polite and extremely helpful. I have used Practical in Gloucester and now in Northampton i am so glad I used Practical for my van hire again- thank you so much for your help and service. I truly recommend

DO NOT USE!!!!!Charged me for VAT on top of the VAT that is included in the price.Said this was how freelancers operator, no one pays twice, just a con!Head office told them this and still took 9 weeks to refund.If he has done this to you contact the main head office.Reported to trading standards on the back of this.More lies below, do not trust this company!!!
