Waterloo Tea (Wellfield Road)
A disappointing experience overall. Server was polite when we arrived and let us know a 30 min wait on food. We did however wait 25 minutes for our coffee and about an hour for our poached eggs on toast.Understand it was a bit busy, but what we found poor was that no one communicated with us about the wait, and no apology was given on our exit. Felt as though the staff couldn't care less.Possibly recommend if quiet, but overall a poor experience.

Went with my best friend recently. The decor and atmosphere was very calming and peaceful. We sat at a comfy table and got on with our work since it was so peaceful :) I got a pumpkin spice latte - really lovely and warming! The staff were so lovely and helpful when we asked for the WiFi. Would go again when the kitchen is open because we missed it :( Will be back!! Would recommend!

Had the brunch brooches. Absolutely gorgeous. Staff friendly. Cafe clean and welcoming. Good vegetarian and vegan options. Would definitely go to again.

How do places like this survive. Ordered one tea, two coffees and three poached eggs on toast. The drinks were all delivered at separate times, the food took half an hour and was cold with a watery white sauce. No excuse really place wasn’t busy for a Saturday morning - food delivered to wrong tables, 15-20 minutes between tables getting their food.Needs some management and staff training that’s for sure

In a world of fast food and fast coffee this is the place to come to enjoy tea and coffee at a slower more sophisticated pace.My V60 coffee was well worth the wait - served in a conical flask and accompanied with a pallet cleanser it was a very mellow way to enjoy coffee, so far removed from the burnt roasts of high street chains. We also enjoyed the avocado and chocolate cake (sounds odd, looks odd - tastes amazing) and the lemon and lime cake.

I have had the most lovely time at Waterloo Tea Room on Wellfield Rd this afternoon. The food is always good, but the stand out was the kind, cheerful service I received. How lovely it is when staff are genuinely interested in ensuring that you have a pleasant experience. I will certainly make the trip across town to visit again.

Lovely coffees and delicious food. A nice relaxed vibe with really great, hard working Batista's. What a great team of people working together to create a welcoming environment to chill out in.

Have had the most amazing breakfasts and lunches here. Such a great choice of drinks and things to eat. I’d especially recommend the poached eggs and herbed yogurt, it’s amazing!! The chocolate avocado cake is a must try as well.

Waterloo Tea (Wellfield Road)
A great addition to Wellfield Road with a more hipster clientele than next door’s Coffee #1 (more Macs, fewer macs), the former Ushi’s premises is now a beautiful tea house/cafe. Great food, great tea, and great coffee, the latter of which is just £2 takeaway when you buy a smart Huskee cup from them. While the demise of quality retail on this bustling street is something to be mourned, it’s great to have Waterloo Tea on our doorstep. The way they stripped back and kept the original shop frontage from when it was a shoe shop is a really commendable touch. Inside it’s simple, stylish. Bare (but new) concrete floors are part of what’s become a trademark look. The kit out was certainly an investment with fancy beer tap-style chrome equipment and, expensively, the coffee machine that usually takes up most of a cafe’s counter hidden away beneath “to allow for better staff-customer engagement”, I was told.It was a great move on their part to not use the old Tea & Cake almost directly across the street and to open on the busier side. We wish them well.

Have visited twice. First time, went to the counter to order and was told to take a seat, someone would come over and take my order. Second time, took a seat, waited a while and realised that people were going to the counter to place their order. Bit confusing but food is lovely and once ordered it doesn't take long to come.
