A fantastic landlord, friendly welcoming pub in a pretty location. Car park and a lovely outdoor area, tables and chairs etc. My family really enjoyed our visit, highly recommended

Whiteshill is a beautiful place, and this pub is ideally located, with views overlooking a stunning valley, and a marvellous 17th-Century main building.The Landlord is a horrible man, is inappropriately located facing the general public, and has appalling 17th-Century views.A racist, a coward (aren't they all?) and a money-grabbing grifter who won't stop until he's screwed every penny out of this pub, leaving nothing of value.

Ken the landlord is an absolute gentleman. Always happy to help and great conversation. Have been working away In the area and Ken has made it feel like a home from home. Great beds and wonderful bathrooms. Ignore the fake reviews

No stars for racism. 7 Sept 2023 The Star hosted low rent hatemonger Katie Hopkins despite considerable local pressure against. Two other venues declined the event but not The Star proving that some folk have no moral compass. Won't be drinking here again.

This pub has so much potential. It is a shame that under the current stewardship the pub has had its soul stripped from it, there is now no atmosphere, no pub garden (just benches in a car park). The kitchen has been under renovation for at least the last 5 years+ and they sell frozen pizza with your expensive out of date beer. Unlike many if the stroud pubs it feels like it has had its community stripped from it and panders to and hosts far right and rascist hate speech under the guise of 'comedy'. Avoid at all costs

Beautiful pub in the countryside. Nice atmosphere for a pint or two on a hot day. Ignore all the fake reviews from the far left, most of them have never stepped foot in the place. Visit it and you won't be disappointed

I discovered he was hosting Katie Hopkins - a renowned racist that numerous other venues had declined. I didn’t stay, but when questioned, he was rude and hostile and admitted to being racist.

Omg the owner likes to involve himself in political activities unfortunately has an admiration for right wing politics and knows racist speakers. Avoid this cesspit like the plague as you might have the misfortune of running into the owner and be the wrong tone or running into staged presnetations from society’s more intolerant types. Keep politics and business seperate.

I stayed in the Star with my mum doing the Cotswolds way and very stupidly left my headphones in the bed!! Joanna the cleaner was a saint and found them for me and posted them to me!! What an angel!! I thought they were gone forever but she saved me!!! Thank you so much, really appreciate it

Had a great night. Lovely room, great staff and locals and we took our guitars and played in the bar. Great fun! Nice and quiet too in the local area and stunning views of the valley at the pub rear garden.
