Holiday Inn London Gatwick - Worth, an IHG Hotel

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night so that we were close to the airport and to de-risk any travel issues that may cause us to miss our flight. Arrived around 19:15 on a friday evening and walked straight up to reception to check in. It was difficult to hear Gomez who was behind reception due to the swathes of women arriving and hanging around chatting loudly for a Christmas party. Nevertheless Gomez was great, very polite, helpful and soon had us checked in and a dinner reservation made. Great asset to the reception team. Gomez was also at reception when we checked out and gave us the same experience. We ate in the quiet restaurant, which was pricey in our opinion. My wife had fish and chips at £18-£19 and I had rump steak at £25-£30 with a side order of onion rings. I ordered a med-rare steak but it was more medium to well done, barely pink in the middle.. Service was good up to taking our order but there after it went downhill. Our room on the grd floor was.clean and fresh looking and warm. The bathroom was equally as good with everything working very effectively. We declined breakfast at £16.xx as we are light eaters of breakfast and paying 2 lots of £16.xx for tea/coffee and toast is way too expensive. We fed this back when we checked out, there could be cheaper small options on offer such as tea/coffee and toast/croissant for £5. I would assume it's better to get some revenue than none at all.

The restaurant here is FANTASTIC, really is the best thing here. The room we stayed in, Room 106. The cleanliness and room facilities were adequate, the bed, my god possibly the worst nights sleep" (I use that term lightly seeing as I got next to none) I have ever experienced which is horrific seeing as I have spent 6 months in Afghanistan. The mattress was really so uncomfortable

Some reviews saying it's noisy ?We stayed in room 153 , room size is for a family easily.There was no noise for us only from 6 am , there was a few doors slamming but you expect that when you stay in a large hotel complexWarm welcome and all relevant information given 10/10Rooms clean and roomy .10/10Only negative I'm a strong believer that there should be a bottle of water in rooms , but that's my own opinion.I will definitely book here again .

Rooms were very nice and updated. Mattresses, blankets and pillows were super soft and comfortable, did not want to get out of bed. Bathroom and everything else was very clean. The only hotel with rooms that will sleep family up to 5. Pull out bed was very hard, but our son did not seem to mind. Room service was fast. Internet was fast as well. Reception and restaurants were updated. The breakfast buffet was enjoyed very much, nice selection of food and drinks, younger children ate for free.The only inconvenience was transportation, no shuttle service to the airport. Train station was not within walkable distance. Took taxi for airport/train station.The stuff is very polite and professional.We enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

2nd time I have stayed here in 4 weeks.First experience was good, this one appalling!!The room smells like sewerage, no amount of perfume spray eliminates the smell. Tried to order room service and the QR code was not working, rang reception and was told that it worked earlier when he used it" advised to go to restaurant to collect menu

Low rise older style property. Long corridors rooms pretty quiet and no airport noise. Staff perform their jobs but not much feeling. Room was comfortable though it opened onto an open courtyard with a general use table directly outside.Parking was done while I was away
