I can imagine this Spoons gets busy over a weekend.I had a chicken schwarama and a Ghost Ship low alcohol beer for a little over a fiver - the usual excellent value for money from the brand.There are plenty of other pubs and bars nearby if you want to explore the town.

Food not to a good standard service was below what was expected. Dirty area upstairs every table not cleared of previous plates and rubbish. The American burger very disappointing and the American pancakes were a ripp of the ice cream with it was equivalent to a half a teaspoon. The whole place needs a very good clean and new furniture and decor.

Have been here many times over the years.One of the better Wetherspoons in terms of building, service and quality of food served.Cannot fault the breakfast for the price of £4.99.

Great Spoons now. Good turnaround from what was a distinctly average Spoons.Beer selection and keeping now good.Food quality massively improved.Staff now seem happy and attentive.Incredible difference to what used to be.August 2023 update all still good.October 2023 update. First beer end of barrel and pizza slightly not as well cooked as normal. Staff offered replacement but had to leave. Overall still OK.

A spoons pub that looks and feels anything but. Approaching the pub it looks like any pseudo historic pub along the High Street- and then you notice the Wetherspoon brand. Almost takes you by surprise. The staff, well at least 3 of the men, were amazing. They were constantly serving, cleaning, restocking, etc, always talking to each other to see if any one needed help of any kind. Excellent team work and service provision - if only everyone's staff behaved this way. Anyway, the pub had a nice historic feel to it with ceiling beams on either side as you enter looking directly at the bar. There is a circular staircase on your right to the upper level. The fish and chips was excellent as was the Guinness

Accidentally ordered a beef Masada we I found out that i did they won’t let me have a refund which I understand I was willing to order and pay for another curry but the manager was like you have what you pay for and didn’t want to offer or let me have another order so went back to my table and order tho the app, two minutes after he came up to my table and said what do you want to do with the beef Masada bare in mind people I know including in allergic to Masada so told him to throw it way.Would of been nice if he sorted all of that at the bar and asked would you like to make another order and just left the Masada in the kitchen without me even asking

Main issue is bar manager or senior bar person pouring doubles when we never asked for them! His reply was you didn’t ask for a single! Never heard such rubbish! He needs some training! Both rounds he did doubles but did not tell us! Came to light after! We could have been driving and 4 shorts instead of 2 would have pushed the driver over the legal limit!! Absolutely terrible service and behaviour! Be careful!

Lively 'Spoons' in a former swish hotel in town. Good atmosphere with a great selection of drinks of all kind at exceptionally good prices. Food is not to everyone's taste, but it hits the spot with all the favourites of comfort food and is very popular. Most of it is very good and sometimes dishes can be average. Good service with friendly and helpful staff

Absolutely disgusting service from the male server and manager on shift this evening.I ordered food through the app - I asked if the server could provide me with allergen information regarding the side salad sauce (I have coeliac disease and this is not on the allergen menu) the server refused to help me in any way, saying that it’s “company policy” to not give out any allergen information. I then approached the bar where I heard him bad mouthing me to the manager who said “well I’m not going to give her any information either”. In the end I asked to see the sauce bottle and the manager acted as if this was a huge inconvenience rather than a simple task. Ridiculous.
