Stunning and peaceful. We went on a grey and slightly rainy day and it was relatively quiet. Stayed for about 3h, alternating between listening to birds on the trail and sitting in the hides to look at wader birds. Staff was very friendly. Facilities were good (very clean bathroom) and the shop is a delight. Highly recommended.

This would be a nice place if it wasn’t for the nuclear plant next door... and the noisy road... and hundreds of bird watchers. The huts look quite nice and they offer good protection against the elements. You’ve really got to be into birdwatching to enjoy this place!

Great reserve. Good bird watching. Large numbers of wildfowl and waders in winter. Great white egrets often present. Lots of hides overlooking various pools and lakes. Some easy access paths but others become rutted and muddy in winter. Also good for those with an interest in butterflies, dragonflies and plants. Nice shop. Viewing gallery with scopes in shop. Small fee to enter the reserve if you are not a member of the RSPB. Reasonable sized car park with disabled parking. Toilet block including disabled toilets in car park.

Beautiful area of the UK with a unique landscape not found elsewhere. Not all trails are open for dogs so check first. The staff at the information centre were very helpful and pointed us in the right direction.

Lovely place to visitOur visit was on Sunday afternoon the 15th MayWeather was a bit cloudy and breezyWe were Greeted with a warm welcome and a friendly smile from the Lady on duty at the entrance as she checked our membership.Inside the main building there's a coffee/tea lounge that also has biscuits/cakes and ices for purchase they also some 2nd hand books for sale to help with fundsIts a lovely viewing area to relax in before or after your visit.Lots of information about the reserveViewing scopes in the main shop that are fixed on nesting birds are a great idea.We had a couple of hours to explore the reserve area and give us a taste of what can be seen and heard during a longer visitPlenty of benches scattered around to sit down and enjoy the sounds and watch the birds plus a few hides and viewing areasOn our way out we stopped for a few minutes to watch the Marsh Harrier looking for his evening meal it was so close and a joy to watchWe can't wait to return and spend a few more hours enjoying what it has to offer. On leaving the reserve we drove down to the Lighthouse area where we spent a few minutes with a hungry vixenwe only had a few sweets with us and she decided that we were not a threat so much so that she fed from Joyce's handWonderful to experience and to watch. It all added to a great visit..

Lovely, calm and peaceful. The lady in the visitor centre was really helpful. The toilets were clean and there were good picnic areas. A bin would have been helpful outside in order to dispose of rubbish.

Great reserve with helpful staff at the visitor’s centre, where you sign in before exploring. We were given some good advice about what to look out for that day, and where we could find good viewing spots that weren’t too far to walk (for mobility issues). Binoculars available to hire from £3. The bird hide also had bird info for reference.

We saw two bitterns here mid-Oct 2023, couldn't believe our luck.Well looked after RSPB site, we enjoyed it and will return.Would be nice to have a cafe here, as didn't really want to leave, but hungry stomach's called sadly.
