Stepney Bank Stables
My daughter has been riding and volunteering here for the past two years. I myself have been there several times during this time. I have nothing but the highest of praise for all the staff at Stepney, such professionalism, kindness and care is hard to come by. The progression my daughter has made is obvious to see in her ability but what is not obvious is how she has grown in confidence during her time at Stepney. Volunteering here has been the making of her, she has been guided and taught with care throughout her time. Thankyou to all at Stepney for your patience and kindness. My daughter will continue to grow as a rider as as a young adult with you all. Would actively recommend you to any young person wishing to pursue life with horses. ( side note, your horses are a joy and so obviously happy to work with you all) . If you are still not sure why not go visit them and see for yourselves ❤️

These are huge gentle animals that run 35 miles a day in the wild.Imagine being put in a prison without even committing a crime.I feel like these horses do not belong in a city and should be in the countryside where they belong. As horses naturally cover a lot of ground.UPDATE:I have recently spoken to the manager who was very helpful. The reality is not as bad as once thought,it is still unfair for the horses but certain things are in place to try and give them a more fair chance at life.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING UNPROFESSIONAL PLACEThere are plenty more places to go than here. The most you will ever do is ride around in circles in a tiny arena as the staff do not bother to track progress or ask for students levelThe horses are kept in poor condition, Volunteers hit and slap the horses for little to no reason, obsessed with trying to be in authorityExtremely rude and ignorant staff, caused a lady to be hospitalised after denying her use of her inhalerKids and staff are rude and ignorantThe treatment to new volunteers is awful and unfriendly, unfortunately according to my child it's seen as more of a competition to see who is the best and the most knowledgeable, than a friendly equal groupSBS organise activity nights only to cancel last minute to make everyone who shows up clean and workIf I could give this 0 stars I would

Stepney is a great place that welcomes you with open arms. They help you with; bonding with the horses, confidence and basic life skills. Staff are very professional, helpful and make your experience a positive one. Volunteering is a great way to make friends, have a laugh, help others and connect with the horses. Stepney also offer a mentoring scheme that allows people to become mentors, training younger and new customers, also passing on tips and information that they have carried with them through their time at Stepney. The horses are suitable for new riders but yet also the experienced riders, every ride is different and staff will adapt the lesson to the horses on and riders confidence and abilities. You will be assessed and allocated to a level, ranging from: level1 to level4. This works the same with showjumping: beginners to intermediate. In the holidays Stepney provide small competitions within the centre for anyone to compete in, as well as offering lots of activities and trips in the holidays too! Stepney has helped me so much and brought out confidence I didn’t know I had, allowing me to pass it on to younger and newer riders. The best feeling is the positive feedback from customers, knowing you have helped them and given something they can take away with them forever. Riders from the age of 3 can ride and from the age of 8 can take part in volunteering. The website can give you loads more information of how to join the team :)
