Drinks only. Visited Monday evening. Do not be put off by external appearance. Great local inside. Excellent Barman. Loads of sports memorabilia-especially womens football. One cask ales on tap.

The Mac’s Bar has to be the best public house on the island. Exceptional bar staff, especially Shaun & Forbes with his exemplary bow tie. Any visitor to the island MUST visit the Mac’s otherwise they’re missing out. 10/10.

Popped in here when on holiday in Rothesay and ended up joining a quiz night. The bar staff (Sean) was incredibly friendly and George the landlord was a welcoming host and a great laugh. The quiz master - who supports Aberdeen by the way was very funny and a great host for the quiz.we were made to feel thoroughly welcome by all We went back for a few more nights and had a fantastic time every night. Highly recommended to all -

Not nice experience of walking in.. I asked if Celtic game was in and was told yes they will show it with no sound, no explanation why too no sound. just walked out would give my custom or money … We come from a mixed family and it’s only a game of football after all ..

Rude owner George made our visit so uncomfortable, we left after one drink… horrible man…we didn’t believe the folks who live on the island but believe me they were 100% right.. do not recommend this pub at all !!Your answer below… lies and more lies .. told you, you and your bar has a bad name among the locals. !!! byeeeee

Kim the landlady was lovely and a fount of local knowledge. We had a pint of Foster's and a pint of Guinness and black currant, and the beers were spot on, you can tell they look after thir beers. Would love to go again when we come back on holiday.

Now then i don't normally write a review because i cannot be bothered and it takes some time but however after reading some reviews i felt the need to. I came over on the ferry with the mrs from wemyss bay, i was recommended this place from a local in skelmorlie.We came in greeted with a nice hello nothing over the top nothing plastic as i hate that, the landlord poured a fantastic pint of Guinness which i did mention how clean it was and if i must say was the best pint of Guinness iv'e ever had to date. My mrs had a coffee and loved that, then proceeded for half a pint of guinness after me bragging how good it was. The lounge in the back we sat in was lovely full of old locals playing dominoes was a great vibe.Look if you want fake smiles and terrible beer go else where!otherwise come here as you wont be disapointed. 10/10
