A few people from work have told me about this course and my neighbor did too. Been here a handful of times I have really enjoyed it. The staff in pro shop where nice and I got to speak to a few people that where playing the course. All where nice and polite.I am new to playing golf and not a member of this course but I am hope to be a member soon.

My current club had a comp on so I decided to play at a different course. Like the website says it's not the longest course but does however challenge you to think about how to get round the course. Despite this time of year all the greens are in operation and it doesn't look like any winter greens are planned. Winter greens really puts me off my home course this time of year. Some of the scenes on different holes look great and I can only imagine how nice they look and play during spring and summer. All players I past were friendly and spoke to me and my son for what was an enjoyable round.Clubhouse facilities we didn't use but look really good and spacious. Pro shop was well stocked and the course even has its own mini practice range of 3 bays and 2 practice hitting nets.Practice putting green was still operational also which again isn't at my home course.

Drove over from the east Midlands this morning, 15°c no rain forecast. I'd paid in advance through the website yesterday.Arrived to be greated by a friendly chap who advised me the course was closed as its waterlogged. He told me all members were notified this morning. As a visitor who they had taken both my email address and phone number I was suprised that I hadn't been contacted or recieved a refund as it was almost Midday tee off so plenty of time to notify me.I was pointed in the direction of where to get my refund and was greated by two ladies at desks. I explained I'd arrived and obviously it's shut so needed a refund. She asked if I'd like to just book a different day but as I'd travelled an hour and a half I just wanted my refund, I'd genuinely been polite to this point, then the lady literally laughed at me saying 'did you not think to check the website this morning' well obviously not. I've played for 20years all over and never had customer service like it, if I checked a course was open everytime I'd paid in advance and the weather was 15°C and no rain forecast it would be almost everytime you play. A good clue for me would have been a refund, email of cancellation or a phone call maybe. Not like they were busy as it was closed. In honesty I lost my temper at this point which is my fault, but staff laughing at you when until that point you'd been polite inspite of the lack of communication was too much. Not even a sorry about that etc just laughter. It was my first visit here, I've seen reviews saying the drainage is good, but that's clearly an issue as is the customer service.Won't be trying again, I wouldn't bother if I were you either

Fantastic golf course. First time I had played it for a couple of years. There had been a lot of changes from what I remember . The condition of the course is very good and the staff was very friendly

Course was great, really good condition, some very wide fairways and some quite tight with heavy slopes to the sides so if you don't hit the middle it runs off to the rough quite quickly, plenty of water hazards so take a good few spare balls! Lady on reception was very friendly, shame a lot of the golfers weren't. I was playing there for the first time and did a solo round, 3 guys in their 80s in front of me wouldn't let me play through for the whole round, this caused a tail back of grumpy golfers behind me, then on the 18th tee the group behind me parked their buggy two metres in front of the tee while i was getting ready to play and wouldn't move it, then when I was lining up my second shot they tee'd off and I had balls landing within 10ft of me, just rude and no etiquette shownIn summary, course is excellent, but beware of other golfers there, unfriendly to say the least

Although a member at Barlaston. I travel round to play different courses. I can honestly say. For views whilst walking Barlaston Golf course, they are fantastic. Herons, kingfishers, geese, foxes, rabbits, jumping carp are always seen. The course is a challenge and trust me no two rounds are the same ! Green keepers have worked wonders over the past two years and it looks and plays very well. Clubhouse is nice, only thing missing is views of the 18th green from the new patio area. The food is excellent and I would recommend anyone (golfers or locals) nip in and try it. Breakfast is amazing, new menu that as something for everyone. Real handcut/cooked chips (rarely seen when eating out these days) My wife and inlaws don't play golf. But each Friday we eat at Barlaston Golf course. For the quality and value of the food. Well worth a visit. The only real downside for me, is other golfers not putting divits back. ( why play the game if you can't be bothered take 5 seconds to keep any course in good condition and replace a divit?) Some people just have no respect, really annoying and disrespectful to those who work hard to maintain any golf course.
