Yorkshire Canine Academy

We saw Yorkshire canine academy advertised on instagram and decided to enrol our 2 year old German Shepard on the 3 days kicker starter and the 5 one to one training sessions due to reactivity with other dogs. We actually hated walking him due to his behaviour, we were on edge all the time and only walked him where there was no other dogs. Completely the opposite of why we got a dog in the first place. Honestly the training has changed our life. The training has taken us back to the absolute basics and showed how to completely retrain our dog properly. From feeding, lead walking, rest, play, recall and how to correct behaviour around other dogs. The main thing we took from this is how to feed him properly as he always had issues with not eating his food. Ghost absolutely loves being worked now and eats his food! His reactivity to other dogs has improved too! We can walk him in public spaces and not have to be edge or worry the training has given us the tools to be able to manage this behaviour. A lot of the issues we had with ghost we actually caused ourselves. Absolutely recommend doing this training if you have issues. Especially the kickstarter program!

Our 2yr old golden retriever Derek has fear based reactivity with people and frustration reactivity with dogs. Our dog trainer Ian is absolutely fantastic. He has been extremely helpful and working with him has allowed us to have a better insight to our dogs behaviour as well as the different forms or correcting it. we have had behaviourist & trainers in the past but with YCA our dog has shown improvement in a short space of time , he still has a road ahead of him but we are confident that we will get there eventually. I Cannot recommend these people enough, the whole team is lovely and really care a lot about dogs no matter what problem they have !

Excellent training, the transformation is amazing with my dogs behaviour!! I can’t thank the team enough from booking in for the assessment, training and 1-1 sessions, especially Madison who we worked closely with, she is a natural and made it look so easy ( not so easy for me, her patience helped ) she was extremely supportive!! The whole package was excellent and backed up with loads of information. I would highly recommend The Yorkshire Canine Academy and if you put the work in the results are so worth it!!! Both me and Poppy are looking forward to the group sessions soon. Having tried numerous online classes, videos, a different trainer all to no avail we contacted Yorkshire Canine Academy as we were at our wits end with our Doberman’s reactivity and pulling on the lead. Right from the start with our initial consultation with Dan he took the time to listen to us and really understand the issues we were having with Ceb. During the 7day kickstarter we received daily updates from the trainers each time we collected Ceb. After the course Jacob talked us through everything and made sure we were fully aware and clear on how the continue the training at home. Each session we progressed to the next step. By trusting in the process and following instructions and guidance given we now have a dog whom we can really enjoy and walk. We no longer have to divert or hide in bushes to avoid other dogs and Ceb now walks beautifully to heel, we have turned a corner we felt we would never reach. I could not recommend YCA enough to anyone who is having difficulty or issues with there dogs. They are genuinely nice people who care about what they do and are exceptional at it!

I initially book an assessment with Jacob which was brilliant. He was very knowledgeable and pointed our common mistakes in my puppy training. He subsequently recommended basic puppy class which consisted of six 45 minute training sessions with another knowledgeable trainer. The combination was just brilliant. I'm so glad we registered him here. Now we're on the way to a really well behaved boy. Thanks again guys.

I've recommended YCA to so many people. I thought I was fully prepared when I got Scout as a puppy, I had done so much research! I booked him in for an assessment super early to give him the best start in life and make sure I was doing everything right. Scout attended three puppy development days at YCA and we had five 121 sessions with Ian. Despite all my research, I quickly realised I had so much to learn. Ian was amazing and I always felt encouraged and supported even when I wasn't doing something quite right. I always knew the context and reasoning behind the way we were approaching the training which helped massively and I honestly looked forward to every session. Scout is still only young so is always learning and we have a way to go - but I'll be taking full advantage of YCA's services throughout this journey because they've been worth every penny!

Rescued a working line GSD, Elsa, and after two weeks of horrendous walks took her to YCA for her reactivity. Had our assessment at the centre with Madi, following which Chole worked some magic and fit us in for a 7 day kickstarter the following week! With a course of 5 1-2-1 sessions over 12 weeks. Elsa is now a completely different dog, that we can literally take anywhere (even to the pub for a Sunday lunch). We are continuing Elsa’s training as members of the working dog and PSA clubs and are so proud to see how far she has come.None of this would be possible without YCA… I literally cannot recommend them enough!
