Had a thoroughly enjoyable experience here a few days ago & have to confess to being surprised by just how much was there.Be aware however that as they don't charge for entry you will pay through the nose for food & drinks bought on site.

Despite the name, St Fagans Castle is actually a grand manor house built in the time of Elizabeth I (the building is actually shaped as an E in her honour). The castle itself is rather unique in the fact it is one of only a handful of buildings in the museum which were originally built here. Many of the rooms inside are very well decorated and give an idea of the lifestyle the castle's previous residents would have enjoyed. Outside, the castle is surrounded by a variety of beautiful gardens which also house some of the museum's reconstructed buildings.

So interesting! The castle is within the St Fagans national museum grounds and between the two you could easily spend a day here without losing interest. Speaking specifically about the castle, which is actually an Elizabethan manor house, it's the gardens which are of greatest interest. They are really quite beautiful and a great place to have a picnic. Only two rooms in the house were open when we visited but they are heavy with period atmosphere, well worth a quick look inside.

House and grounds are lovely. Access to the house is quite limited, but it is all free. Cafe was nice, took our drinks out and sat in the gardens once we had eaten our cake.

Delightful museum of Welsh life. Allow 3 hours to explore the Manor House, out buildings, interior exhibition and time for a cup of tea and scone. We especially loved the time capsule apartments where you could see the same apartment building from the 1800s through 1965. Brilliant.

No ticket, as there is a £6 parking fee. Was a humid day, have water with you. Gardens are lovely, the manor house is magnificent, and the exibits give meaning to Welsh history. I reccomend 2-3 hours to fully appreciate St. Fagans.

I loved this place, I think you could spend days there and still not see everything. I loved seeing how they lived long ago. I really enjoyed seeing the progress of houses through time. All of it was very interesting and great walkways through the park area
