Visited October 2023: breathtaking, even though I didn’t go inside the outside is beautiful. There’s an area where you can observe the stone masons repairing parts of the building too

What else can be said about this incredible building, it really has to be seen to be believed. This really is one of the best and beautiful cathedrals in the country. You can easily lose hours taking in the amazing windows and decorations, inside and out.The lines to get in are well organized with plenty of friendly staff on hand to help. I bought a pre booked ticket and walked straight in with no waiting. All the staff inside are very helpful and friendly and I recommend asking them any burning questions you have as they are all very knowledgeable. I did bump into one of the tours and listened in and must say it was packed with loads of information. If you are visiting York this is an absolute must visit .

The Minster is stunning. We also did the 'Crypts of the Early Minster' tour (additional £6 per person when we visited) which was fascinating, and limited to a very small number, ours was 6 people. This meant we had a great opportunity to learn from the experienced guide and see some sections of the (even older!) churches that lie beneath the current building.

Beautiful imposing building on a mammoth scale. Well worth a stroll around and through the grounds. Undergoing renovation works so some areas are scaffolded but you can watch the stone masons at work preparing and carving stone for replacement. We didn't enter the building on this visit but it's top of the list for next visit!

One of the main things to see and visit whilst visiting York. Absolutely awesome and stunning building! Takes your breath away. The history of the building is incredible and has an underground museum, showing how its changed throughout the years and how they've saved and reconstructed it throughout the years. Give yourself plenty of time to see everything as it's a big building and you can easily get lost in it's history for 3-4 hours. Didn't climb up the tower, (275 steps) although would of liked to for the amazing views as there was a bit of a queue and its time allocated. But it was a fantastic and amazing experience and highly recommended.

York Minster is one of the world’s most magnificent cathedrals.Since the 7th century, the Minster has been at the centre of Christianity in the north of England and today remains a thriving church rooted in the daily offering of worship and prayer. The Minster was built for the glory of God. Every aspect of this ancient building - from the exquisite, handcrafted stone through to the unrivalled collection of medieval stained glass - tells the story of Jesus Christ.

If you're visiting York, it's an absolute must. There's lots to see and take in. Allow at least a couple of hours to get around it, particularly if they have an exhibit on. The guide book is very useful (I'd even suggest a pre-read so you can hunt some of the treasures out), particularly for the main part of the building which is obviously still a working building so understandably doesn't necessarily have the signage and information you'd usually expect in a historic attraction.

It was a beautiful sight even on a rainy day. Very informative tour exploring the history of the minster from when it was first built to the gothic masterpiece it is today. It's worth a visit whether you're religious or not, and irrespective of faith.
