Scottish Guided Tours

Scottish Guided Tours were incredible from start to finish.We did not know what to expect, having never booked a private guide, but the entire trip was magical.We were so lucky to have Andrew as our guide. His story telling, humour and kind nature made every member of our extended family feel so welcome and energised.Andrew paced each day perfectly, and was always happy change timings, and be completely flexible for our group. Thank you so much Andrew, and Scottish Guided Tours.Our family vacation to the Highlands of Scotland will live long in our memories.

In November 2023, we booked a private tour with Scottish Guided Tours. We wanted a customized tour as we needed to be transferred from our hotel in Edinburgh to the next one in Braemar. The booking process was very smooth, and Niall had already suggested some interesting possible routes.On Saturday morning, we were promptly picked up by Andrew. Andrew is super friendly and immediately lets you know that he is entirely at your service. Andrew knows practically every corner of Scotland and first asks what you would like to do. Based on that and the weather conditions, he creates a route. We had indicated that we were mainly interested in seeing nature: mountains, lochs, and glens. And that's exactly what we got! Andrew took us to places you would never visit as a tourist. He is sociable, funny, and shares interesting facts about the country and the places you visit. Never in an annoying way; he also knows exactly when to give you space to take a short walk or talk with your own group. Andrew's social antenna is well tuned!I cannot emphasize enough how happy we were with the service from Scottish Guided Tours. We had a perfect day, and we seriously can't think of anything that could have made this day even better. A thousand thanks to Andrew and Niall!

Exceptional Outlander TourI coordinated with Niall to plan an Outlander tour for six friends. He did a positively magnificent job. We saw all filming sites (a couple were closed due to next season active filming, and he juggled our tour days so that we got to see all the sites possible). Once he discovered we were all needleworkers, he arranged for a special presentation on the tapestries at Stirling Castle. He proactively (and unbeknownst to me) researched a house related to an antique embroidery I own so that we could go see it and speak to the owner. Best of all, when we arrived at Craig Na Dun on World Outlander Day, he had set up for a well known bagpiper (Spud the Piper) to play for us while he served us a wee dram of Sam Heughan’s Sassenach Whisky that he had procured for the occasion. Niall took our group to all the series locations typically covered in Outlander tours plus more, and many historic sites as well. Niall has a great knowledge of Scottish history and a wonderful sense of humor. He booked delicious restaurants for our meals. He accommodated easily our unexpected needs (suitcase replacement, cold medicine purchase). And he followed up with us daily after the tour when two of us contracted Covid and couldn’t fly home, researching local quarantine requirements and helping us arrange other activities. I can’t recommend Niall highly enough.

Our group of 4 had an amazing time on our trip to Scotland this March, starting in Edinburgh with a multi-trip up to Skye, ending down at Inverness. Alan was our guide for the 4 days and was extremely flexible, knowledgeable, and attentive to the the wants/needs of the entire group. Beyond knowing the locations and best way to navigate, he also showed us countless sights and spots that were beyond just the popular ones. Alan shared with us many stories of the history of Scotland during our drives, including at the various sites, and it made the trip that much more unique and special. He really wanted to make sure that each of the 4 of us got to see things on our list, whether it be waterfalls, wildlife, sites of legend, or the best stops for lunch, coffee, or cake!I would be remiss not to also mention Niall, who over email answered countless questions for 8+ months before the trip, helped to recommend lodging and dinner spots along the journey, and was responsiveness and extremely helpful.I would easily recommend them to anyone for any guided tours.

Our tour of the Highlands and Islands would not have been the same without Niall. He took such great care of us, planned a truly amazing tour and handled all of the logistical details. While discussing the itinerary, we started with the tour offered and he helped us customize our five day trip so we could experience exactly what we hoped. Additionally, we enjoyed our overnight accomodations based on Niall's excellent recommendations. Niall was considerate of our need for breaks, made our evening meal reservations and even packed a picnic lunch on the day we went to the Isle of Staffa.As we got to know each other, Niall often added a short stop or two of local interest he thought we would enjoy. His ability to adjust our schedule based on the unpredictable Scotland weather and/or our desire to linger at a place longer than planned was a real advantage. Niall was very knowledgable about all-things Scotland and could answer or find the answer to any of our questions. Along the drives he shared so much about the history of the country, lots of stories and folktales, and insight into the culture and people of Scotland. We really got a feel for and understanding of this wonderful place.We are a family of four adults and all agreed Niall and his tour expertise were one of the best experiences we've had on any of our vacations. We strongly encourage you to consider including Niall in your Scotland travels. We've made a friend and hope to return for more of our own adventures with Scottish Guided Tours.

From the speedy email replies, to the drop off at the end of the day. Niall and Andrew were fantastic! I really can't recommend Scottish Guided Tours enough. Extremely helpful, friendly and brilliant at what they do. They couldn't do enough and made our outlander tour one to remember. Thank you :)
