Even on a rainy day it was worth coming to this lovely peaceful corner of St Oswald's churchyard to see the burial place of one of England's best loved poets. William Wordsworth died in 1850 aged 80. He is buried alongside his wife Mary, his sister Dorothy, his three children and other family members beneath a yew tree and within sight of the Lakeland fells he loved. The graves are easy to find (just follow the sign next to the gingerbread shop). The daffodil garden is also worth a visit.

The gingerbread is unique. It’s got a layer of ginger at the bottom. Well worth the queue. Visited on a Sunday afternoon.

Worth a stop if you have visited Dove Cottage earlier in the day. The daffodil garden is well kept and a scenic detour to the gingerbread shop. Graves are guarded by a barrier but William and Mary are easy to spot.

Lovely garden to walk through in commemoration of Wordsworth, entrance is to the left of the Gingerbread shop, can only imagine how lovely it would be in spring with the daffodils! The family graves are in the churchyard
