Lovely stable yard of retired police, military and other horses, ponies and donkeys. Nice atmosphere, very peaceful. Good information on the life story of each beast on their door. Also good, although small cafe. More outdoor seating than indoor. Cakes and other treats available, no real meals. Very reasonable at £5 per carload. Good for kids.

This is a lovely place to visit, a beautiful spot in the Chilterns for some well earned rest for the horses here. You can visit the horses (no feeding or excessive petting though- it's not a zoo) and learn their stories and give them a good hug if they fancy! There's also a small museum with a history of the home of rest for horses and a tea room, though unfortunately they don't serve lunches, only cakes. Was a bit disappointing as we were hungry from our walk. But a great charity and a lovely Sunday afternoon.

Aside from being a wonderful place for retired (Police and Military) and neglected horses, it's set in a stunning location. The horses are friendly and seem happy to be fussed over. I can't wait go go back in the new year!

Lovely place, great to see the horses and really liked reading the stories of each one. Clearly a very huge operation here that appears to run very smoothly. Some of the horses have come from awful backgrounds and have been nurtured back to great health.Cafe was very nice and reasonably priced with a good selection. The pot of tea was big enough for two big cups (unusual these days!) and the coffee was good by all accounts. They had oat and soya milk options for those that don’t drink cows milk.We didn’t book, but it was recommended as sometimes parking is limited if they can’t open the additional parking due to the weather.

Took my 2 girls there bank holiday Monday, cheap to get in and had a good couple of hours there. Worth a visit. Not a massive place but nice to support it.

We are returning visitors, and this is a lovely place to spend a couple of hours. The children love meeting the horses and reading about their lives. The teashop is cosy and there is plenty of seating outside - lovely on a sunny day.
