All of the staff that I encounter at Hughes Newmarket and Ely are helpful with a can do attitude that’s rare. Their rental service for dish washers to TV’s is second to none. I sincerely hope this company goes from strength to strength, and continues.

We went to buy a small refrigerator. We swiped our card and because we needed to sign the person declined the transaction. We go to the atm to pull money out to buy the fridge and when we get home to check our bank we were charged for the declined purchase! Hughes blames this on our bank and now we have to freeze our card! Essentially we lost £230 and now have to fight the charge on our account. Service was okay, but the fact they took our money twice is uncalled for!

This is the shop where customer service exist. Definitely a big shout out to Addam who works over and beyond whether you are sure to buy or not. I hope we have this kind of customer service in every shop we go to.. If you need they genuinely help you out. Thanks defo will visit this shop.again and recommend to family & friends

I would like to thank Hughes in Newmarket for their help in supporting my Aunt with choosing a microwave. Hughes are a very good chain of shops in East Anglia and always appreciate that they go the extra mile to be of assistance.

Brought a tumble dryer on line delivered to Newmarket store for collection all great. Got it home and is damaged called the store to report straight away said the manager would call me back in the morning which was fine. Now 24 hours later 3 phone calls and still haven't spoken to the manager. Not a happy customer.Thank you for replying but I can tell you 100 % I have no missed calls on my mobile number provided. Maybe you have the wrong number.06/3/20 Finally spoken to a staff member called Greg who wasn't the manager but was brilliant,arrange for a replacement to be sent. Also promised to get the manager to call me later today. Lets hope he does. Because of Greg and all his help it has gone some way to restoring my faith in the company. Thank you Greg

Unfortunately, although Hughes customer facing personnel have been fantastic, the same cannot be said for the quality checking of appliances which are rented out.Take for example, tumble dryers. You expect a reconditioned model to have minimal damage, be capable of heating clothes, and to be able to tumble them while it does so, whilst extracting water vapour and excess heat to an external source.We have been attempting to complete a full month with one tumble dryer. The first reconditioned Beko had a dent so big it looked like it had been booted. It did not come with an extractor hose. We asked for one. The damage was not marked on the receipt sheet so we did not want to be liable for it and asked for an exchange straight away. The second, a Hotpoint, had a problem where the heating element fell away on two different occasions. It was repaired on the first, but on the second occasion we asked for an exchange model (again), but of a different kind. We got exactly the same model. We again asked for a hose (we had been using the tired hose from my tumbler that was originally replaced). They did not bring one, but brought one over especially later and knocked a month's rent off. After a few days, the heater element fell out. We asked for a different model exchange (again) and the guys came this morning to switch them. It was the same model (again). But on this occasion, on unboxing it, the guys were too embarrassed to even take it out of the van as it was badly damaged. A manufacturer or transit error, and not Hughes fault this time, but it just added to the problem for them and for us.Steve the manager is personally delivering one this afternoon, of a different model. He has agreed to suspend another months' rent, which is not really compensatory as we have not had a working tumbler dryer a full month yet. This is all in the space of a few weeks.The front of house staff are obliging, understanding and responsive to concerns. But if a more thorough quality check on devices was carried out, then I am sure it would have saved an awful lot of hassle, inconvenience for us, and embarrassment for Hughes. If you spend all the your time switching and mending rental products and placating customers, I can't see a rental model being very profitable.

I wrote an over harsh review ,Mark has indeed been very helpful both covering the features of Miele dishwasher and recently chasing up when they did not pay the £50 cashback (Miele still hasn't paid it). After that great service from Mark I was disappointed with the Digihome TV quality and explanation of that quality hence my harsh 1star.

I ordered on line a TP- link wifi extender to be collected from the storewhen i completed the transaction on line it stated i could collect from the store in a weeks time which i thought was a long time.I spoke to Adam at the Newmarket store and he explained they only have a store delivery on a Thursday. to my delight he arranged for it to be delivered next day at no extra cost. it came at the time allotted so well done Adam and thank You. i have bought over the years several items always find staff helpful and prices very competitive. So lets all support local stores .
