Shoreham Street Surgery (Steel City General Practice)

I don't go a lot to the doctor's, but last couple of times found the lady I saw to be very helpful and welcoming, even when it turned out to be nothing it was not a waste of time in her view. Follow up with specialist for chronic problem was easily done through a simple phone call discussion with the doctor rather than wasting an appointment when not necessary. Appointments obtained fairly swiftly. It used to be harder to make appointments to see the nurse though, due to demand, but the receptionists always endeavour to do their best. Joy, the nurse, has always been excellent, friendly and thorough.

came in the morning to enquire if there is any appointment available for today , because i have a rather pressing heath problem.The lady at the reception told me i have been deducted from the patient list, last may, 3 months after my last doctor appointment. No clear reason stated on the system, the receptionist says the message looks as if i moved out of the area but i did not. I am rather disappointed because i cannot figured out why that happened and i need to see a gp, better sooner than later and my problem is not something that the walk in center would cover, unfortunately. The receptionist was rather helpful .I was told to come next Fri so that the management has time to reply.

The pre-Covid average waiting time for an appointment was 2 weeks. SHOCKING! No early mornings/late evenings appointments for workers in this surgery as in other practices in Sheffield.New covid-19 rules have worsened the situation: if you need to talk to the doctor get ready to call as soon as they open to book (if you are lucky enough) a same day appointment/call. I must had bad luck this week as I tried 3 times without succeeding! If you have an urgent issue their best advice is the walk in centre. Doctor Moorhead is competent and caring but the patients management and the waiting times are poorly managed. Therefore one star.

Had many a bad experience here. From my first visit where i was offered paracetamol for chronic migraine, to me ringing now asking about jabs to go to africa, told they cant get me an appointment for 6 weeks to see the nurse and told me to go to hospital instead. Absolutely pointless been registered here and my control of my chronic pain condition has suffered terribly over the past few yrs because of it. At least it wasnt as bad as my friend who got told to just go home whilst having an actual heart attack

Pretty bad service. Spoke to the nice dr on the phone on behalf of my mum who advised for me to go in and collect prescription for antibiotics asap as she was extremely sick and at risk of going to hospital. I turn up to the surgery to collect and the receptionist 'jo' rather abruptly advises me to come back after 1hr. after I explained what the dr had advised me, she still insisted she would not 'interrupt' him.. I advised I would stay and wait.. 5 minutes in she goes into the drs room and collects it for me.. what is that all about ?? She was extremely unhelpful. Sort out your staff!!

During my grandsons consultation the Scottish female doctor told my Polish daughter in law to go back to Poland for treatment for a tick bite. My daughter in law was polite and just stated what treatment the medical authority in Poland had advised her. The doctor did provide the treatment required but my daughter in law was very upset with the racist comment I am appalled.

Repeat prescription missed AGAIN! Leaving me without my medication. I was told I should either return later in the afternoon / evening or go to the pharmacy and see if they will honour the unsigned prescription". I explained I was heading into work for the afternoon / evening and neither "solution" given was acceptable. (With working in another city miles away! ) This surgery seems to be well and truly stuck in the dark ages! The level of service and care is utterly unacceptable! Shambolic! Time to find a new GP and surgery!"

Needed to make an appointment, was told nearest appointment is 3 weeks away.3 weeks !! Well surely I’d either be dead or better by then.If you do manage to get an appointment then you may be treated like my dad was.Went in complaining of what we thought was a chest infection, was sent away with some cough medicine.2 days later was back as was no better, in fact he was immeasurably worse, this time he was sent away with a prescription for morphine !!Morphine for a cough ??Another 2 days later and he’s in ICU at the Northern General being treated for pneumonia.What kind of doctor can fail to diagnose pneumonia and sends a patient away with morphine.Serious malpractice that nearly cost my dad his life.Not just poor service but downright dangerous

The nurses, doctors and receptionists are all so lovely and friendly. So kind and supportive.

Became a patient when I moved house earlier this year, the receptionists are always friendly and incredibly helpful. Managed to get an evening appointment to fit around my working hours easily, really impressed.
