Made an appointment easily enough as we are new to the area and had to register our dogs. Janice the receptionist was excellent as it was bad news for one of our dogs. The vet was caring and compassionate explaining what would be happening. Thankyou for looking after our dog and us.

We bring all our pets here and the staff are great! The vets share lots of good advise and you can tell they really care about animals, whether big or small. Thank you

We had a very poor experience with our 2 dogs. The standard of care you receive is inconsistent based on the experience of the vet and how busy they are. Basic things can be missed from our experience yet the charges remain the same no matter who you see! Our dog was diagnosed with spinal problems. The vet we saw missed that our dog was severely dehydrated, even though we repeatedly advised he had not drunk anything in days. We saw the Dam vet twice within 4 days with our dog as he was getting worse. The referral vet who we saw on the 5th day said he was so severely dehydrated that another 24 hours would have resulted in organ failure. Getting a referral was a catastrophe in itself. The vet thought spinal problems could be the issue, missed dehydration and asked us what we wanted to do! We are not trained vets and we felt we, the patients were having to steer the best outcome for our dog. We asked for a referral which the vet said they would do. I asked for an urgent referral as my dog was in pain and followed this up with numerous calls to the Dam over the next 24 hours, checking the referral had be done because it was so urgent in our dog getting the right care. I followed it up the following morning and was told the vet had stayed late to do it and that I had to wait for a call from the referral vet. No call came so I rang the referral vet only to find out the Dam had made an error and marked the referral as routine and non urgent. In the meantime my dog was getting worse and over half a day had passed. I immediately called the Dam asking them to put their mistake right and was told that they would call me back within the next 20 minutes. No one called me - I rang again and had to repeat the story to someone else who said the vets were busy. There was no urgency just a complete lack of understanding of the issue they had caused. Meanwhile my dog was suffering at home - they couldn’t do anything. He needed a specialist. I literally had to break down, sobbing and begging for help for them to take the urgent action that was necessary and correct their mistake. Reissue the referral as urgent so I could take it up with the referral specialist vet and get my dog seen quickly. No dog owner should be put in that position, to beg for help - begging them to put right the error they made. They also completely hacked at our other dogs neck when doing a blood extraction, that they left a wound that became so infected it need antibiotic treatment and then tried to charge us for the antibiotics needed to help heal the wound they caused. They attempted to pass this off as razor burn - we own a hair salon and are familiar with razor burn and it was not that. You could see the clipper marks dug into our dogs neck. To make matters worse our dog needed more blood extracted and we specifically asked them not to shave our dog, which they ignored and did anyway without our permission, making the already bad wound they had caused worse. The Dam experience fell way short of our expectations and after that we found an alternative practise more suitable. Our new vet is happy to put medication on prescription to avoid paying to see a vet each time like the Dam for repeated problems. They are much more reasonable price wise and don’t just give you the smallest medication possible so you have to keep visiting to get more money out of you.

We have used the same veterinary practice since before the dam veterinary centre was opened by Mr Warrington. We rescue dogs, mainly Spaniels, and have adopted 3 through the vet’s practise. Always friendly and welcoming and although there have been many vets we have seen over the years they are always extremely professional. This includes the vets and nurses and receptionists who currently work there. We wouldn’t go anywhere else with our 5 dogs who are part of our family.

So grateful for the quality of service from Dam vets. They examined my elderly dog very quickly and effectively and sorted out the end of life experience with immense compassion. We're so glad of how they handled it all.

Only interested in money and not the animals health. We needed a X-ray for a cat they decided to change the price 4 times in the space of a day. Cat did not go for X-ray with them and instead went to a vet who’s not all just about the money. Also pulled my 3 dogs of there register and pet plan and registered else where. Tried to say £480 for the X-ray and sedation, Howden vets did it for £165 and actually cared about the animal. Dam vets told us good chance of amputation, which is not the case, bed rest less of exercise and plenty of pain relief. Stay well clear !!!!!!!!!!!!
