Not really a lot to say, it worked well, no delays at border control or baggage reclaim. Airports work best when you don't really notice them.

I do not like this place. Difficult to navigate bad for parking the drop off as been reduced to 10 mins. So not even a chance to do your sat nav first 10 minutes is free but I stayed under 10 and still got charged £4.00 I hate going to this place to many unclear signs en route awkward roundabouts to navigate unclear how to get out of the place and back on the M 42 in the right direction

It is a good and clearly laid out airport, with fast processing in many areas. Bringing and picking up friends and co. is also well organised. However, the airport cannot keep up with the real good airports in terms of flight offers and prices. Flights to Germany and Austria etc. are hardly available or only accessible with a stopover (not recommended for families). Other airports are a step further and are used four times as often by me and my family.

Difficult to decide which is worst East Midlands or now Birmingham.50 minutes to unload the luggage, a desperately unkept welcome and tatty baggage area and the doors out of customs have broken sensors hanging loose. The advanced payment Car Park didn't work and lots of us were waiting to get out, the staff on the intercom were the only good part. Not exactly a Welcome Home or Welcome to the second city of the UK.And it is not the first time, it has been sliding downhill for a while now.

Arrived back from the USA at 05.30 and had to wait half an hour to get off plane as we had been put at the the wrong gateway.Worse still was the baggage collection which we had to wait 1 hour 25 minutes before any baggage was put on the carousel and there was no member of staff around to ask why it was taking so long, other than that the process was OK but with generaly very few staff at all even at customs where we saw no one at all and just walked through. Also my wife and other users told me that the first ladies toilet she had to use was disgusting with a heavy smell of urine and generally dirty, did not seem it had been cleaned properly for some time, again no staff around to inform.

The drop and go is really annoying with the new payment system. Massive line to get in or out. The old system it was better

Getting through security before departure and then getting through passport control on return is particularly bad. Its as if they aren't prepared for passengers!

Literal hell on earth. Everything is broken, dirty, disorganised, and badly staffed. The queues are endless; expect to wait 45-60 minutes at check-in, 90-120 minutes for pre-security pass checks, a further 60-90 minutes for baggage checks, then anywhere up to an hour to know your gate. On a good day. If you travel during the Christmas, school holidays, Haaj, Diwali, Eid or Ramadan, expect significant increases in times caused by the predicatly huge increases in families, elderly special assistance passengers, very inexperienced travellers, etc, testing the airport to breaking point, compounded by the airport's complete lack of experienced staff and their overcomplicated, poorly-designed processes. And don't expect to breeze through just because you've got speedy boarding or priorty channel access; priorty queues are not managed, and you regularly find their longer in fact, because they don't have dedicated security gates, check-in desks, or even separated queues. It's not that there isn't sufficient space, it's just that every step in the process of getting people on planes at this airport, is farcically badly managed. It's quite literally a cattlemarket from entry to exit, with all available space allocated to permanently-cordoned queues, staff shouting the same instructions at the passengers like ranchers, with little to no communication inbetween staff at each stage, and a complete ignorance of process, responsibilities and senior advice among staff on the floor. Flight time panels are predominantly used as advertising space, so you spend ages staring at adverts trying to pick out your flight times in the brief seconds they're visible, and the duty free and eating areas are cramped, oppressive and nearly always under some kind of maintenance. And god help you if you fall into an exception process like missing your flight because you will be abandoned by your gate agents at the first opportunity, then wait for for hours for any assistance while everyone you ask shrugs and walks off, and the general public mindlessly follows each other figuring out what they're supposed to be doing. It's a special kind of hell, and I'm never doing it again. If you go, check that a route via Heathrow isn't a better alternative, even if it's less direct.
