My beagle is an old fella now and he became rather poorly. Ayres managed to see me quickly, and provided a first class service throughout. I saw two vets and both were excellent, giving me a comprehensive explanation of the problem, proposed course of action and costs. Professional, caring, courteous, and helpful staff with extremely efficient service. Thank you very much for your help.

Twice recently we have had to take our chihuahua Walter to Ayres. Both times the different vets were excellent with him. Reception staff always friendly. Would go nowhere else with our pet.

My much loved pup recently had surgery at Ayres Veterinary Hospital. She was happy to go into see the vet and was happy when she came home. She stayed at the hospital overnight , the staff kept me updated with her progress and were so caring and reassuring. Before taking Polly home I was provided with oral pain medication, written post op instructions, not just a one size fits all instruction but the instructions personal to Polly’s care and contact numbers should I need advice. I cannot fault the care she received. First class service.Thank you so much for your dedication and care.

What kind and caring staff work here. I couldn’t fault the service we were given. They were fully booked but after explaining my situation over the phone, they squeezed me in. When I arrived, the staff that I came into contact with were caring and lovely to us and they made the whole ordeal of putting my hamster to sleep, as nice as it could be. They took time to chat with us and didn’t rush the process which was really appreciated. I couldn't recommend them enough. Thank you so much.

Avoid! Don’t even call them!Called just after midnight Thursday 11-May-22. I was discouraged to bring my dog in. I was told that Gateshead would be closer for me. The operator then gave me a hard time for not vaccinating my dog within 18-months. The person on the phone was the most unprofessional, rough/aggressive person I’d ever encountered in such a setting. Why she assumed I could not afford the out of hours fee; I still do not know.I ignored the advice I received over the phone here and drove my dog to Gateshead; who said I should have come sooner as my dog was critically ill. I spent £££££ at the vets in Gateshead but it was money we’ll spent and they were very professional.

Leaving a one star review as they told a cat rescue to put a stray boy cat back on the streets (unfixed). it had taken a very hard and stressful 8 months to trap him, as he is very trap wise. Really? So you are telling folks to put a cat back into a situation where he won’t be having food and water on demand, wont be getting any vet care for any injuries or illnesses sustained, whilst on the streets and the weather is starting to get VERY cold on a night time? If I phone the rspca and say I know of a cat that is not being given food or water on a regular basis, is denied access to medical care for any illnesses or injuries that may occur and is not allowed to come into the house to get warmth, they would investigate. Why are you giving this advice out, AYERS VETS, NORTH SHIELDS NE28 Tyne and Wear.? For the sake of 2 or 3 days you are willing to put a cat into a situation that could kill him? Back on the streets. VERY trap wise. Could have illnesses or get injuries which turn nasty (infections and abcesses from fights, leading to sepsis and death) and won’t be able to be trapped, as he is so trap wise it took 8 MONTHS to trap him. Shame on you, Ayers Vets. SHAME ON YOU.

The staff have always been amazing here. Very friendly and very helpful. The reason I put have 3 stars is that I feel it is very over priced. One appointment to put two ill rats to sleep cost just over £170!!?? I've always came here but that put me off using them again.

Had to call out of hours a few months back for my little rabbit Gizmo. He was very poorly and I knew he wasn't going to make it. The staff were lovely in this difficult time, especially Jane. She gave me time to say goodbye, and was very understanding as my heart broke. They are pricey, but all my experiences with them have been 5 star.
