My wife and I had to go away for a week last summer, to visit an ageing relative. Our dog - Sasha - does not react well to being left alone for extended periods, so having a house / dog sitter for the week completely eliminated the issue: Our house-sitter, Claire, met our dog a few days before we went, and walked with her to get acquainted.We got a great reaction on our return, but our dog wasn't stressed, was well-looked after, and all the post was neatly stacked in my study. The house was neat and tidy on our return, and we had the peace of mind that our house and beloved pet were in good hands.

I have never put my Cats in a Cattery because of the stress this causes them and usually had a friend or family pop in when we went away, but since the older one now has medical issues we needed someone to be there more often.Claire was recommended to us by a friend and she house sat for our 2 Cats for a week last year. Our older Cat is on a special diet and has to have meds every day so we needed someone who could live in and make sure she got the medication. She's also a grazer but we can't leave her food down because our other Cat will eat it. This means we have to watch over her eating several times a day. Luckily we work from home, but it makes things difficult if we go away.Having someone there while we were away gave us the reassurance that the Cats were being looked after as closely as if we were there. Claire is very calm and level headed so if the older one needed a sudden trip to the Vets, we had the confidence in her ability to deal with the situation. Fortunately that didnt happen .It's so worth it for the peace of mind and we will definitely be booking this service again with Richmond Housesitters .
