The New Northumbria Hotel

Nice comfortable double room equipped with tea/coffee making/TV and ironing. Bathroom was nice but bath was a bit small. Restaurant and bar attached with loud music but went off by about 11pm. Good breakfast -plenty of choice. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Great front desk staff... efficient and helpful.Decent size rooms ...clean...good bathrooms.I will be back .But I will not be having Breakfast here again....such a shame that the quality of breakfast was below average...that the hope of sending food back so the order would come back correct proved futile. You could hear the chef in the dining room when the food went back into the kitchen. Such a shame for this hotel. The 2 waitress were such a contrast while one was courteous and efficient....the other just the opposite verging on rude....she was definitely disinterested , curt and verging on rude. It just drew chuckles , nods and smiles from all the guests seated as we exchanged our disdain at her behaviour.Before I left the kinder waitress offered to refund my Breakfast payment ...but I refused ...as I have my own business and I think the owners should be aware of what's going on their kitchen and diner. My nephew who shared my room decided to skip breakfast here although we had paid for it .I had a wonderful time at Osborne's next door the night before ...the staff were excellent... especially the waitress at the hot food section.Perhaps what I am trying to say about the Breakfast service which cost me £20 is ...should do better.

We had an amazing time for our valentine's night break. The hotel was awesome, mixing modern furnishings with the period property to create a brilliant atmosphere. The room was very clean and tidy with a comfy bed. We also had a meal in the joined restaurant which was fantastic too.

Nice hotel, staff excellent. Breakfast menu very good and sensibly priced. Worth booking superior room for the small difference on price. Parking free but very limited - maybe 10 spaces, tight for large car! Walk through to restaurant and adjoining bad a big plus in poor weatherOutdoor area would be great in summer

Booked my mum in here for a couple if weeks while my dad was in nearby hospital. Unfortunately the stay turned out to be far longer but the staff at this hotel couldn't have been more fabulous. They made my mum's stay a total pleasure, checking to make sure she had everything she needed even leaving her treats in her room for when she got back from visiting my dad. Then mum ended up in hospital too and the staff sent cards and even visited her! Rooms at hotel are excellent.

We only stayed for one night with our Newfoundland dog but will definitely be back. The room was really big with tea and coffee and a lovely bathroom with big towels. Not a single fuss was made about the dog being so large the staff on the front desk were lovely. We had to pay an extra ten pounds for the dog which bookings. com failed to mention but to be honest well worth the money. Lovely location too.

Nice little hotel. Good size rooms that were spotless. Lovely to have a bath and a shower for those who enjoy a relaxing soak after work or shopping. Staff were very helpful. Only bugbear was the size of the lift, which could only fit one person and two large suitcases. If anyone had not shut the door properly on another floor the lift would be stuck there. Would recommend this hotel for leisure.

Rooms are relatively large. The hotel spans across and has multiple sections and steps. My room was very quiet but I would expect some to be louder especially near the bar. bathroom was ok. Service friendly and quick. The hotel is a bit dated and can do with a bit of maintenance. Floors creek a lot. Overall nice stay.

Do not stay here had over £8000 in cash went out on my birthday came back and my room when I had put a sign on the door do not disturb was ignored and room had been burgled by staff or cleaners £5000 of money was stolen with bank cards used fraudently alongside SIM cards and was used post 5 months without notice, until I started to see thousands of pounds worth of food shops were placed per month not a place to be leaving anything valuable that’s for sure! Looking to sue them with solicitor they phone the police when trying to ask for the liability solicitors and try to threaten you with harassment when have no response do not visit this hotel!

Cheap midweek stay. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and tidy. Only downside was the pillows were a little flat. Osbournes bar offers good value food and drinks. Would use again.
