I am the proverbial grumpy (hard to please) old man. I mention this so you know who is writing. I booked to take my lovely wife and our two dogs out for lunch at the Railway Tavern. We were greeted as we entered with a smile and complete trust; I had a feeling it was going to be rather special.We were seated by the window and waited maybe twenty minutes only for our home cooked food while we sipped sone rather nice ale. My wife had the pork with brie and cranberries, while I ordered the fish and chips with the customary mushy peas. Wow once, twice and wow thrice! Superb quality food; piping hot, clean cutlery and plates, we polished off the lot leaving nothing.I found the Landlord to be a most enjoyable fellow who treated us as if we were the first customers to grace his tavern. We had a very enjoyable experience and the Railway Tavern can be assured that we will return on a fairly regular basis. It would have been Sunday for the roast lunch but alas they are once again fully booked. Kind of speaks volumes to be honest.

What a little gem of a find this was. Been on holiday for almost two weeks before finding this place, just wish we had found it sooner.My partner had the pork Belly and I had the minted lamb steak. OMG, they were both amazing dishes, not a scrap was left on either plate.For dessert we both had a different version of the same dessert, WOW, what a portion size, so make sure you leave enough room.Will definitely return when we visit Lincolnshire again, 5*Social distancing is very much at the forefront of the owners minds, making it a safe and secure place to eat.

Absolutely amazing service during strange covid times. Booked ahead, and doing so was easy.The food itself was great, proper home cooked meals and fantastic portions/ pricing. Menu has a good range of items, and nice beers available too.Highly recommend!

We stumbled across this by accident as we dived down a back road due to a main road being shut. It was late afternoon and we would have eaten but for the fact that we had a joint of meat ready prepped at home. The landlady greeted us as soon as we entered and then chatted to us about the local area while we had a drink. Later, the landlord came after finishing cutting the grass outside and he was friendly and chatty too. A good list of meals was on a floor to ceiling blackboard at sensible prices. I would guess it must be quite good or it wouldn't survive in the position it occupies in almost the middle of nowhere.

We decided on the railway for.a family evening meal out and were not disappointed. The landlord and landlady very friendly and made us feel like regulars. The boys loved it there a very much hidden gem. The food was amazing. One of the best steaks I've had for a long time and my other half had the steak and kidney pie which she enjoyed boys had pizza and chips. Starter main and dessert for us all and the landlord entertained the boys after dinner with a water pistol which they loved.we will definitely go back when next in the area

Such a lovely place to spend the evening either having a pint or having dinner, the food is extraordinary and cooked to perfection with lots of flavours and not a bad price too! The Railway Tavern has a lovely atmosphere with a homely vibe and nice music. The owners were super lovely people, incredibly friendly and very welcoming. The waiting time for the food was very fast, can’t even remember how long we waited it was that short. I’ll definitely be sure to come back and would 100% recommend anyone try this place!

Went for lunch here last week. A traditional English pub. What an exemplary meal. All home cooked food and the taste was divine; the service excellent; and the Lincolnshire Pale Ale delightful. My wife had the Cheese & Potato Bake & I had Belly of Pork - the best I have ever tasted. We would highly recommend the Railway Tavern" in Aby for a meal

If you are looking for good food and a warm welcome, then look no further than the dog friendly Railway Tavern. They managed to fit us in at short notice, plus the dog for an evening meal. The choice of food was excellent, and exceptional value for money.Highly recommended.

Plenty of meals to choose from and hearty plates much enjoyed. Sides customised to need which is helpful. Nice pub with a friendly atmosphere. Staff made it very welcoming. Nice rural nosh when we needed it.
