Salutation Hotel

Very tired and in need of updating. Nowhere to relax in comfort. Dinner was dished out like a school canteen. One excellent thing was breakfast - loads of choice, delicious hot porridge. The waiting staff were very friendly and efficient. Rooms were clean, and serviced well each day.

Had a family get together birthday lunch in the Murray room. The staff did everything to make this a memorable day. The food and variation was excellent and enjoyed by all. We had 3 courses, good sized portions and coffee to finish. Thanks to Gordon and Kay for exceptional service and to Tony the chef and all involved. We will definitely return.

It's a very old hotel so don't expect modern and sharp but with its history I was delighted to have stayed here. Car park is just behind the hotel so that wasn't a problem and central location was ideal.Staff friendly.

You don't find hotels with its history very often being the oldest hotel in Scotland, which is really part of it charm and for the price, it's worth 5 stars. The room we had was huge, loads of room for 2 adults, 2 children and two dogs, easily, it was clean and did its job very well. Some may say the hotel could do with a freshen up but I think this is reflected in the room rate and it does add to the charm of it. Breakfast is well worth the money, loads of selection, a massive choice on the full Scotish. There is a public car park 2 mins round the back of the hotel which is free over night and pretty cheap when you do have to pay. The river is a 2 minute was as is the main high street. Staff were all very helpful and friendly, definitely recommend.

Not much to complain about really,except dining room was too hot, needed a fan .Room a bit cramped and not really cleaned that well.We found the staff pleasant and always on hand to wait on you during lunches.We found the bed really comfortable.Easy reach of St John's shopping centre with a vast array of shops and eateries.All in all not a bad experience.

I stayed over recently when my daughter and son in law celebrated their wedding at the hotel. From start to finish the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. As well as great service, the food was lovely and our rooms were of a good standard too - highly recommend.

It's a nice old fashioned hotel. The staff were great, the food was great. But the room over the dining room was noisy. The bed creaked and was too hard for me. It doesn't have a car park but there is one close by.

Rooms on the third floor were very cold as was the corridor. The central heating failed to reach a comfortable temperature and the tiny electric heater that was placed in my room was totally useless. Not at all a pleasant experience. However, the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

This was my first time in Perth and I selected this hotel primarily for its location but also because of their very affordable 2-night away autumn deal. This deal included breakfast buffet and 3-course dinner along with a free trip to Huntingtower Castle (I wasn't able to get out there on this trip due to my poor planning), which is an incredible value. The hotel itself is 400+ years old which is awesome. The main halls are decorated with bits of this history which I greatly enjoyed. Staff were kind and very helpful during my stay. Great location with most necessities a short walk away.

Excellent staff, comfortable room, lots of stairs but it's well marked. The food, across the board, was above standard and showed quality ingredients. Bar prices are a little on the high end but they do offer a good choice of labels.....
