The Kings Arms
Beautifully cosy country pub that is super dog friendly. The staff are lovely. A real treat to visit, especially in the winter when the open fire is lit.

The team were able to accommodate our early arrival which we were very grateful for. The environment was cosy - seemed to be a few different dining areas -and the food was very good and my daughter was delighted with the birthday candle that the staff had presented her dessert with (by prior arrangement)- thankyou! Overall very enjoyable.

The sign outside states We are super dog-friendly" and they are! We stayed two nights in a great room with its own little lounge area and lovely comfy beds. A bath too

Second stay at the Kings Arms was just as fabulous as the last - the team was lovely and welcoming, the room was lovely with extra nice touch of ground coffee and fresh milk, and a wonderful evening meal - plus great breakfast. We felt very well looked after and look forward to our next visit

Service was great. Staff were friendly and professional. The pub is really nice; clean, cosy and comfortable. We ordered Sunday roasts for our family and the food was a bit disappointing. Felt very much like eating heated left overs. Wasn't awful, but was far from what I'd expect from a pub of its kind. Perhaps an off day.

Beautiful pub inside and lovely garden outside and very welcoming of dogs, but absolutely, truely awful Sunday roast sadly. We’ve been coming here intermittently from Bristol for years, and came to meet a friend here today that we hadn’t seen in 3 years and I am honestly embarrassed I suggested the Kings Arms. The roasts were all entirely stone cold apart from the cauliflower cheese that came separately, the potatoes were hard, we had the wrong meat dishes, the meat we did have was half grizzle. Unfortunately no one came during the meal to check how we were and we were starving after not eating all day to save ourselves for a big meal, so we ate a lot of it out of desperate hunger. When the plates were cleared we mentioned how bad the food was and were told our desserts were on the house. Unfortunately the chocolate mousse was equally very poor. The consistency and flavour left me convinced it was packet angel delight, so overly sweet, pasty texture and with no chocolate taste at all. We weren’t asked how the desserts were otherwise I would have given feedback. With a bill where we still had to pay £20 per main course, I left feeling completely robbed. We are lucky to live in a city where we eat out regularly at some astoundingly good pubs and restaurants that are no more expensive but get it spot on. It doesn’t take much to get the basics right. I can honestly cook a 10x better roast at home. Sadly will definitely not be back again, pretty gutting experience.

Convenient location, great staff, no pub noise in the rooms. Fab breakfast, real fire in the evening, and they know how to make an Irish coffee. I don't like dogs in the rooms/restaurant but that's my preference.

We had a nice lunch, staff very helpful although did have to wait slightly for the drinks initially. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant.Using the Butcombe loyality cardmade it good value. Otherwise I felt some of the dishes were rather high eg fish and chips £18. But we have booked to go again.
