After a series of conversations with nursing staff at the Gwent, family members of those who were in care at this home and after reading reviews online, we reluctantly accepted the council’s proposal to move Nan into this home. We lasted 3 weeks.Unfortunately, the rumours of terrible care, unsympathetic staff and just an overall bad experience were all true. If you care for your loved ones and still want them to live as full of a life as possible, do not bring them here.Although Nan has dementia, she can still converse with you and her personality still shines through. We constantly took Nan out in her wheelchair, to parks, cafes or back to her family home where we would have BBQ’s etc – something she thoroughly enjoyed. After just a few days we were told we could no longer take her out. The higher management were extremely rude and unsympathetic and it bordered on bullying. They were stopping my Nan enjoying her life.Staff were told of Nans likes and dislikes, but this was constantly ignored. She was brought food which was just left on the side in her room, knowing full well that Nan cannot feed herself. Nan was left to sit in her hot room when staff left faeces all in her toilet and they failed to clean Nan up afterward. The smell was quite unbearable, so I dread to think how long staff left her like that.We were complaining about the lack of activities, and when the clinical manager went through the activities report, she reported Nan engaging with the activity staff. Nan was not even in the home at the time of the activity, so they falsely reported that they were engaging with Nan – of course they blamed human error and said that a resident who had engaged had similar notes to Nan.We were unsure as to why they had such a vendetta against Nan enjoying herself and spending time with her family. They kept trying to say that it was a care home and it wasn’t going to be a good experience and we should accept that Nan has dementia and she’s now in care. She really was kept like a prisoner at the home. She has since moved homes and we have nothing but good things to say about them and Nan is now doing really well and enjoying going out with her family.

I’ve been working at Tregwilym lodge for a year and a half now, before working here, I could honestly say I’ve never fitted in anywhere the way I have here. We are like a big family, and we all help to make the home a happy and inviting place. The other care staff are lovely, the management team are welcoming, the kitchen staff cook beautiful meals and always accomadate for everyone, the activities staff are amazing and always take residents out to their favourite places and the cleaners keep the home shiny and clean. Overall it’s an exceptional place to work and I love my job!

Every individual deserves a place to be called Home and this is what Tregwilym advocates. Residents are kept safe 24 hours and there is always a help at hand where it’s day or night. From every members of different departments collaborating together to provide a high levels of care. These ensures all service users care requirements are met beyond expectations and rest assured the relatives have peace of mind.Every member of the team made a significant contributions for the success of the organisation. The management team practices open communication, identity areas required improvements and action in timely manner. The management is very supportive to all staff in relation to career progression making an environment where everyone feels encouraged.

Not overly sure where the reviews of one star are coming from.Assuming they are anonymous no issues were actually raised in person otherwise why would you hide your identity, Which means there wasn’t any or they got dismissed due to under performance. From what I have seen and heard as of this far I can say there is a lot of care towards the residents.Keep up the good work it’s hard out there to get good workers and workers that will stick.

This place has gone down hill fast, so many issues, team leaders spreading lies, people being made to feel bad for reporting safeguarding issues. Management haven’t got time for you, and make you feel worthless. Residents don’t get the respect they deserve. As the saying goes if your face fits you will be fine, staff being asked to leave positive reviews. One member of staff being sacked for reporting a resident being assaulted by another member of staff yet the one that assaulted a resident still there. Residents being miss treated and bruised. All this place cares about is money many times we have run out of wipes or pads, constantly searching the home for items to do personal care. It isn’t person cantered care here it’s like a production line.
