Pretty little church but not normally open to view

St. Mary's is a traditional rural Suffolk church sited in arable fields on the far outskirts of Belstead village. It's located as far from the village centre as the church in neighbouring Copdock, meaning that the pair are almost within sight of each other. Whereas Copdock churchyard lies adjacent to the country lane between both hamlets, Belstead's small church is more secluded with a churchyard surrounded by trees. Only the short, squat stone tower stands out & can be glimpsed behind the trees of this otherwise hidden building. St. Mary's has a pair of large old wooden doors in the main tower porch. Almost all the other doors have been bricked in over the decades. The windows are ornate with a lot of stained glass. The rambling graveyard around St. Mary's is very uneven & overgrown, indicative of no longer being in regular use. There are some very old gravestones dotted around in the grassy clumps & a few large tombs of elaborate designs.
