Princes Street Hostel

Great location. Nice comfortable room and facilities. Staff were nice - left my car keys in room and they were kind enough to post them to me free of charge. Would definitely recommend if looking for a place to stay in the centre of Edinburgh.

Great place to stay. The staff was very helpful while we were there. They don’t offer laundry services but we’re super helpful with recommendations on where to go. Like other reviews said, you do have to walk up a lot of stairs to access the hostel but Edinburgh itself requires a lot of walking, stairs and incline walking so it’s really not that bad. The rooms were vacuumed daily with trash changed and the bathrooms and showers were also very clean. We even forgot a bag of a few things important to us from this trip and the management went above and beyond to get it shipped to our family in Bristol in time for them to bring it back to the States for us! The location is great for arriving by train and meeting for a lot of the tours that are offered in Edinburgh. Definitely recommend this hostel!

Princes Street Hostel far exceeded my expectations. This was the first hostel I’ve ever stayed in and had a great experience. You can see online that it’s well maintained, clean, plenty of restrooms, employees are friendly, and the location is fantastic. What you can’t discern from a brief look online is that they provide exceptional service! I accidentally left my expensive headphones there and they were able to find them, and ship them all the way to the United States - going far and above what was required. I am forever grateful and will always recommend Princes Street Hostel.

It's difficult to fault this hostel;- Excellent mattresses/bedding- Excellent bathrooms- Very clean- Attentive staff- Great location- Not crampedThe only problem I had was the staff member showing someone to their room at 12.50am AND TURNING ON THE LIGHT when they came into the room, waking everyone up.Is this normal? It's ridiculously poor standards.

Had an amazing stay! The staff were very friendly, the room were clean and the kitchen was well equipped with everything i needed except oil. Would definitely recommend if coming to Edinburgh!

The overall experience exceeds my expectation, the staff are nice and friendly, letting us know where we could visit in Edinburgh when we first arrived. The lounge, the kitchen, the rooms, the bathrooms are clean and quite spacious, I have to mention I am amazed that they have microwave, stove and oven in the kitchen. People who stay there seem to be all friendly too. I prepared earplugs beforehand but didn't use since I find the rooms surprisingly quiet considering the hostel is above a pub. Had good night sleep. Would definitely stay again if I ever get to re-visit Edinburgh.There is however one minor thing to complain: first night I asked a nice girl at reception to recommend any nearby laundry service since I was going to stay for 3 nights. When she was looking for one in their book, one Taiwanese staff girl stormed in to ask what's the matter, only to answer coldly that I should 'search online myself'. I am not claiming that she should be nicer or welcoming to us based on the fact we are too from Taiwan, but it would be a different case if she knew and yet still chose to have this potentially confrontational attitude with guests like us who simply want to have a little bit of information about how to take care of laundry.

Incredibly well located, extremely friendly staff, as nite/organized/prepared as no other hostel I've ever been in! Every detail, from the beginning to the end well planned for hosts!Isabella, the current manager, and her team do an amazing job everyday! I loved staying at this hostel!!!!!

Very clean. Most staff i met was very friendly. Perfect for a visit to the Voodoo Rooms downstairs! Bring a padlock for the lockers, or buy one. Nice kitchen.Rooms are tiny, though. I was in the tiniest 6 bed dorm ever. Glad it wasnt full.But yeah, the stairs. Dont book this place if you cant get up stairs. No elevator.After a pretty long conversation about when i was about to arrive and heard 2 o clock was perfect, i wasnt very amused to find out that check in wasnt untill three...could have reminded me at least? I mean... those stairs.

Nice hostel. You get your cardio by walking up 4 flights of stairs everytime. But everything is nice and clean and the service is nice. Bring a little night light if you want to read or something by your bed because there only is the big room light.
