Adam Stokes Guitar Lessons

After 4 decades of playing self-taught rhythm guitar I decided I wanted to develop my overall guitar skills with a view to learning to play jazz. After 7 lessons, Adam’s relaxed and non-judgemental style of teaching has already helped me identify and address a lot of ingrained bad habits and start building my knowledge and confidence on the fretboard. I really look forward to every lesson and am enjoying practicing in between sessions too with the well structured homework exercises that Adam tailors to my needs.Great teacher, extraordinarily talented guitarist and a lovely chap into the bargain.Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a jazz guitar teacher I can highly recommend Adam Stokes. He helped me set achievable goals, which made me want to pick up my guitar and further develop my playing. Lessons with Adam gave me a lot of confidence to go out and play with others (jams, band auditions).

Adam is an excellent tutor with a teaching style that caters for and adapts to what you want to achieve as a musician at any level. I really cannot recommend him enough for the amount he has given and continues to give to my understanding of the guitar. 5 stars!

I’ve been doing lessons for a while now, and I’ve learnt so much! Adam is very accomplished guitar player and it’s very inspiring when learning. I came to Adam as a relative beginner and he did a great job of providing me with the bit of structure I needed to progress with helpful exercises and teaching about music theory and songwriting. He's also an easy going guy and great at what he does.

He was really focused on building lessons based on music that I enjoy so I never once had to struggle through learning something I didn't like. He even took some songs I like that have no guitar in them and made a guitar version for me to learn! So cool.

I work a busy schedule with not much time for hobbies and I'm really glad to have picked up guitar with Adam - more than thirty years since I last played! Adam is very encouraging and patient, especially when I'm struggling with a particular chord or riff. He's flexible both in terms of scheduling and learning pace - which works great with my job. I started as an almost absolute beginner but am able to play riffs from some of my favourite songs. He's also shown me lots of exercises to build finger strength and the best guitar posture to keep to maximise the notes I can reach comfortably. I learnt a lot about the features on my electric guitar and he advised my daughter and I on which guitar amp to buy so we can upgrade our playing experience.We work on Zoom as I live in Pakistan. It's a handy set up and Adam has several professional-grade tools that help me follow along with his teaching. The lessons are an hour long, which gives me lots of time to ask all my questions and go over parts I'm stuck on in detail. He also maintains meticulous lesson notes and song sheets that I can use to practise in between lessons.Adam is the whole package: a great teacher, musician and person! I'd highly recommend getting in touch with him if you're interested in learning guitar.
