Spire Shawfair Park Hospital Edinburgh

Came here for surgery in the arm that required general anesthesia, before arriving I was incredibly paranoid. However, the staff are fantastic and the whole process was great. Completely removed my fear of going under general anesthetic and honestly look forward to doing it again.

Initial visit was pleasant, facility very clean, seen very quickly. After-care is pretty shocking. Reception aren't very knowledgable, called for blood results and passed pillar to post. Spoke to the practise manager for my consultant, they couldn't have been more helpful and apologetic although they too received pretty useless information from Spire. Called the medical records department, said I needed a specimen signature, ID and utility bill to access?! My GP hasn't had these either. Shame when you pay in excess of £1000 for the treatment and for all they know there could be urgent results.UPDATE: visited for a procedure and it was a great visit. Staff were wonderful and I was well looked after. I did however have to get up and leave rather than be discharged which was fairly odd but I’ll be adding a star nonetheless.

I've been there for a Cardiologist consultation and had the pleasure to meet Dr. Flapan.The consultant was very friendly and the consultation very thorough.Received a response in a week and this was very accurate and clear as well.The building is not easy to reach from the city centre though.

I had an ultrasound at Spire this morning. The reception staff were lovely but the nurse who chaperoned my procedure was brusque and made little effort to reassure me or put me at ease. She then forgot to lock the door and a member of the public walked in halfway through the procedure. Although the radiologist apologised, the nurse was very offhand about the situation despite putting me in such an awkward and upsetting position. Overall I would not recommend Spire and have received much better care from medical staff at NHS hospitals.

clinical staff are nice from the one one consultation I had here, my complaint is about getting information after the first visit, as I've been scheduled for another procedure.I've been trying to get a hold of ANYONE for days to try change the date of a follow up procedure to no avail. Reception cannot help and only redirects the call to extensions where no one answers.Someone did try phone back the day before the procedure: I didn't get the chance to pick up and they did not leave a message, no idea what that'll be about till I show up I imagine (as I phoned back but no one answered).Really appalling, I'd expect way more from a private hospital.

I just had a colonoscopy done at the hospital and wanted to say how professional, warm and kind all staff had been, including the reception, nurses, those looking after your welfare and of course the consultant. Highly recommend the place!

Unhelpful and not good quality for £220 . The doctor did not even ask me my symptoms, said I seemed to be in good general health. When I complained directly I was given the doctors notes which also clearly showed he had no idea about my acute condition, as his notes are not accurate. I get better help in town for free from the opticians and it’s quicker. I traveled four hours for my appointment for pretty much nothing. Doctor only yelled at me not to wear makeup, which I don’t, when I spoke to him on the phone later he wouldn’t let me talk just yelled over me. I didn’t present symptoms the day of my appointment but as a dry eye specialist Dr. Tan should know that some days are better than others, and that’s the point of actually asking my symptoms, not just assuming it’s from makeup use as I am a woman.

I had cataract surgery here through Laservisjon Scotland with Jonathan Ross. My care was excellent from the moment I arrived at reception to the moment I left. The nursing staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. The support staff were great including the cheery man who brought me a much needed pot of tea. Jonathan Ross and his team exceeded expectations. There was very little discomfort and the end result, after 3 days, is perfect distance and middle distance eyesight with reading glasses for small print or low lighting. I can't recommend highly enough

Came on a Sunday for an MRI and all staff were superb from the person on reception to the radiographers.

Such a welcoming good experience at this hospital, very professional approach with everything from the initial consultation to the completion of my treatment. My consultant, Dr Mehat was excellent, very professional and more importantly, very reassuring as I am quite a nervous patient and I would definitely return to him to have my other cataract done when the time comes, well done. Very happy patient.
