Gorse Hill City Farm
A great farm with lots of animals to see and feed , we came to see our youngest a adopted ducks . Staff were welcoming and so good with the kids . Good wheelchair access just take care at the entrance as it’s quite a steep hill . We arrived later in the day so the food options were quite limited , the food we ordered was nice , well presented and tasted great . Kids are already pestering to visit again !

All the Animals!!!Such a great place and the animals are so well treated.Make sure you buy lots of food from reception, and I mean lots. Also try and spot Chester the Cat a new addition. He was very shy but if you zoom in on one of my photos he is in his bed all warm and cosy.

Ok for a cheap day out with baby as under twos have free entry. They have a play park for kids, plenty of outdoor seeting for family picnics and a nice little cafe that serves food hot/cold food and drinks and icecream. Mainly just goats and sheep but also have a few of each of the following: chickens, cockerels, ducks, rabbits, Guinea pigs, donkeys and pigs. My 2 year old boy loves it we have been 4 times now

A lovely place to visit with your child, super cute animals and baby animals, cafe, playground, handwashing facilities throughout. Lovely friendly staff. Be sure to buy a pot or two of animal feed for a £1 at reception, your child (and you!) will be delighted to feed the goats and sheep and their babies. A notice in the yard says that Leicester City Council will be withdrawing funding from the farm, I thought this was really sad, please support this place by visiting and having a snack and a drink there.

As a person who has worked here for work experience for college this place is terrible at respecting younger workers who aren’t even getting paid but yet still trying their best. I have been accused of being rude and not doing my work when I know and other people around me have agreed that I work really hard and I’m not rude just quiet. Some of the main workers there are completely unprofessional and very hypocritical when working with others their age. Overall the farms animals have a poor and unhealthy environment to sleep in and doesn’t have any enrichment (toys or objects that can keep them entertained without workers or customers having to do it) and the areas of some of the animals are far too small. The staff room is full off dirty old shoes and clothes that haven’t been worn in ages and a sofa that sits 3 people max, they have a table with some chairs but it stinks inside and has no source of heating and isn’t very hygienic when eating in there since we can not eat in the cafe. When I offered to mop in there they said there was no point as it will just get dirty again. I also know a few people who have worked here and have left or complained due to terrible experience and awful management. If you ever consider working here be prepared as they treat workers younger than them with disrespect and unpleasant comments.

I visited the farm around the time of Halloween and it was wonderful to see the farm themed with Halloween. Definitely, a place to take your kids too as they will enjoy feeding the animals at the farm. It's quite a small farm, so might not take more than 1-2 hrs to cover the whole farm along with feeding the animals.I couldn't try the cafe. However, the staff was very friendly.Learned some new facts about animals displayed throughout the farm. Would definitely recommend to visit especially with kids.

I have been volunteering at the farm weekly for a few months and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I have Aspergers a form of Autism and have struggled with my mental health these past few years, and volunteering here has really helped. It has been really good for my mental health and also I am getting exercise, enjoying interacting with the animals and also chatting with the other volunteers and staff as we work. The staff are lovely and very supportive and friendly. The animals are well cared for and look happy to me, having also been brought up on a homestead farm. Any issues with the animals are dealt with as soon as possible, including to call the vet, when needed. The staff are very caring to the animals, which is lovely to see. The enclosures are cleaned each day and we also do a range of other tasks to ensure the farm is safe and clean for animals, staff and visitors. The farm does not have many funds, since losing the funding from the Council a few years ago, but they still manage to have a welcoming and lovely environment for the animals and visitors. I love seeing the smiles of the faces on the little children who come with their parents and caregivers to see and feed the animals. It is very uplifting. There are also quite a few people who come to visit who have different kinds of disabilities and it is also a really great to see their enjoyment also. I don't agree with the perspectives of the other person who has given a negative review after volunteering at the farm. It is not my experience at all and I think the staff room is perfectly suitable and fine. It is a working farm, so I am not sure what this reviewer expects from this context? I have worked in multiple places in the past and I have found the farm a great place to volunteer in. Thanks so much to everyone there. I am looking forward to continuing to volunteer at the farm going forward.

This is a nice little local farm where you can see a variety of animals! My son really enjoyed his visit here specially with feeding the goats. The only problem we had was the difficulty in parking, I had to park a street away as I wasn't sure how to get to farm's car park. This didn't cause much of an issue as it was only a few minutes walk!Overall an enjoyable experience and we will definitely come back!
