Craufurdland Castle

My family, 8 of us, stayed here for a week. Great castle with all of the interesting quirks one might expect spiral staircases, hidden doors etc. Whilst also having the mod cons, good kitchen and bathrooms. Made to feel very welcome by the family living in the other half of the castle.

An amazing host, amazin property a s amazing home. Although I'm pretty sure I got kissed by a ghost in my sleeping would come back in a heart beat. If your visiting here I highly recommend taking the tour if offered!

Well what can I say except this is a wonderful, magical place. The accommodation is absolutely fantastic. So much history and character and every room has a different story to tell. The castle was so cosy we never had to light the massive fire in the drawing room. There was everything that you need in the kitchen and plenty of space where everyone never got under each other's feet.The beds were very clean and comfortable.Also the lovely family who own the castle are very welcoming and attend to every need be.You can set up a tour of the castle and grounds with them.Don't forget it's the West of Scotland so the weather is very changeable but make sure you bring outside clothes and shoes.The accommodation is only a 7 minute drive to Tesco where you can but just about everything you need or be clever and organise a delivery instead !!!!The other shops and train station is only 15 mins away at Kilmarnock town centre.All in all I would highly recommend this venue for family gatherings, cosy Christmas anything that needs space.

Excellent walks, beautiful scenery, you can fish, cafe open, restaurant open and many other activities to enjoy, archery, TTT etc. Would award 5 if walks were more dog friendly, course stone not great, better signposting, map of routes would be useful. Really beautiful and on my doorstep

Great place to visit. Lots to do and restaurant is excellent. Looses a star because the walk takes you through a filed where you have to climb two styles. Fine if you don't have dogs, impossible if you had a pram.

This place is amazing found it by luck it does high top assault course fishing archery and loads more great wee place plus a wee cafe

Love this place! Great for an afternoon out. Take a walk around lovely grounds, get something to eat, go fishing and get adventurous on the tree top assault course!!

We stayed here as a family reunion. Beautiful grounds. Lovely people, and close enough to go do many things in southern scotland. My kids loved it and still refer to it as when we stayed in a real castle.""

We booked the castle for 3 nights over a long weekend and I cannot recommend it highly enough.The castle is exactly as you would imagine, high ceilings, richly furnished and draped in history.The owners communication was clear and concise and they couldn’t have been more obliging in making our stay perfect.The castle is surrounded by huge grounds which are perfect for outdoor activities and exploring. That and with only a 25 minute taxi into Glasgow the locations is perfect.I will definitely be looking to go again.

Had a visit to the Laird's Table for a takeaway brunch. Food was delicious, service was efficient, very helpful and friendly. Went for a walk around the Castle View route - its a lovely looking castle in a lovely setting, and a great place to spend an afternoon.
